  • Cheapo thermostat. Gates should stick to belts.
Bought this for my hyundai tucson 2.0L. My original froze up in the open position. If you look at the photo you will see that the Hyundai thermostat is quite a bit beefier with a rubber seal. Gates does not have the rubber seal. Also the hyundai has the temp 82C stamped on it and gates has nothing showing the temp. Overall, I would say that I wasted my money. Be sure to buy a lower radiator hose when you do this job. Don't waste your money on a gasket. Aftermart gaskets are cardboard, hyundai gaskets are metal. Taking the lower radiator hose off requires removing the splash guard. I tried taking it off from the top and it ended up taking me 3 hours. There is no way to grab the factory clamps from the top. ... show more

  • Decent
Nothing special, but it did work just fine. However, it did feel and look pretty cheap. It's one of those parts that, as soon as it's in your hand, you feel like you're gonna break it on accident. Felt a bit too flimsy for my liking.

  • Next time I'm buying OEM
Things were OK when I installed this thermostat (2008 Elantra) over the summer. Winter time is a different story. Car hardly warms up on cold days now. I will likely go ahead and replace it again but with OEM this time.

  • Works great
I so relieved that it was a good match hard to install but figured it out for a 2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS
