You guys should never ever take anything for grant, always do a boiling water test, it's a 5mins process and can save a lot of headache. I have bought offbrand and was discovered DOA. Look at the photo. This works but why don't they include a rubber seal? It's impossible to find on prime so I ended up driving 40miles to a local yellow and blue store where Gate is also their OEM, be sure to just bring this unit with you so you can test out whichever seal they have available that fit. Don't buy their thermostat it's $10 cheaper here on Amazon. And this product works, so much cheaper here than anywhere. Design looks cheap comparing to OE. I got 115K out of OE, I don't know if this will but it works. And also there is a mislabel on Amazon, this ain't made in the good ole USA. It's made in China so I took one star off ...15 is kinda high for Chinese labor. 15 is priced for American made, comon Gate bring back jobs to USA like you used to? there is no way you can be charging 15 for a chinese made! ... show more

The advertising shows this item to be American made. The packaging states "Made in China". I had high hopes that a GATES brand product might actually be American made, but it isn't. Also, I specifically shopped for a "fail safe" thermostat - one that would fail in the open position if it ever did fail. It may be, but there is nothing on the packaging that states that this is a feature. I haven't installed it yet, but thus far have some doubts. ... show more

Got this thermostat as a troubleshooting step for why my 03' LAncer would not heat fully. Replaced with this thermostat and still wasn't getting great heat. Turns out that living in a place with subzero temperatures for 2-3 months a year was the culprit.
