Got this thermostat as a troubleshooting step for why my 03' LAncer would not heat fully. Replaced with this thermostat and still wasn't getting great heat. Turns out that living in a place with subzero temperatures for 2-3 months a year was the culprit. The advertising shows this item to be American made. The packaging states "Made in China". I had high hopes that a GATES brand product might actually be American made, but it isn't. Also, I specifically shopped for a "fail safe" thermostat - one that would fail in the open position if it ever did fail. It may be, but there is nothing on the packaging that states that this is a feature. I haven't installed it yet, but thus far have some doubts. ... show more
