    • A 180 deg thermostat often does not open at 180 like a light switch
This thermostat works as it should, I didn't give 5 stars because longevity is a big deal for thermostats and only time will tell. A 180 deg thermostat often does not open at 180 like a light switch,and show you a drop on your gauge dead on 180 deg. Its normal for there to be some lag between a temp gauge reading,thermostat opening and cooling effect from opening. That said I can watch this thermostat open at 190deg( my application's suggested temp) on my gauge and from there it falls,thats normal and pretty accurate for a 180 rated unit. Some $15 dollar and up units are dead on by planning a more 170 deg like opening to get you to full opening sooner making a noticeable 180 peg and fall on the temp gauge. If you need that kind of accuracy you often spend more. I recently tested a batch of new stants and few of them were even close- all above or below their rating- off by 25 deg. If it lasts I will probably stick with Gates? So far its accurate,and its well priced. ... show more
