  • Works great
Full disclosure, the model that is now shown is not the exact same model that I received. It's close, but not exactly the same. I would assume some minor cosmetic differences don't affect the quality of the AC unit. Overall, this portable AC unit is great. The only thing I'm going to pick on is the noise level is a bit louder than I'd like, but it's just a white noise, so you get used to it pretty fast. I don't know if any other unit would be any quieter either. I've been using this to cool a bedroom that gets a lot of direct sunlight so it heats up more than any other room. This unit has more than enough power to cool a bedroom and could probably handle a couple of rooms. It might not make two rooms ice cold, but it would help. One room though, this is perfect. The exhaust is nice and slim too, so you don't have to open up the window very far or have an eyesore showing through either. The slim exhaust is also nice because I can keep the blinds mostly closed to help keep the hot sunlight out. The remote control is a bit unnecessary for me, but I suppose it's a nice thing to have. Overall, this unit is great for cooling a small room ... show more

  • Perfect for Keeping a Room Cool
I got this a while back but was not able to use it until the weather warmed up, and now that the heat has set in, it has been working great. I have been using it in our Florida room, and it does a really good job keeping the space cool. It was very easy to set up, and I like that it is portable. It is a bit heavy, but not unmanageable, and the wheels make it much easier to move around. We even carried it down some stairs without too much trouble. Overall, it performs well for the price and I have been very pleased with it. ... show more

  • Simple and effective in spaces that can't be easily modified
I got this Garvee 3-in-1 8,000 btu portable air conditioner for double duty in our dance/yoga studio and the old family RV. It makes the biggest impact in the RV where the 20 year old roof unit struggles to keep up on a mild day and completely fails on a hot day. It's not my RV, and I don't get to decide what to do with it. But, I do get to bring this along to make a somewhat uncomfortable situation feel good in an instant. As for the studio, it's a 100+ year old historic home that cannot be easily modified (red tape mostly). So, we use floor units like this to selectively cool it and provide relieve in both temperature and cooling costs. It's pretty quiet for an AC. A comfortable white noise that masks sounds outside the RV easily. Not too loud for a teacher to talk over in the studio. Not too loud for savasana. We don't have much use for the dehumidification in socal, but it's nice to know it's there if needed. We also don't use the fan much as an oscillating fan is preferred, but it's still nice to know it's there. Very slim design. Easy to vent. If you're using it on generated power, make sure your genny can handle the startup wattage. ... show more

  • Nice Not Blocking Windows
This is a really nice AC unit for the price. I ordered it for a room that doesn't have windows that would support a window unit. It isn't the quietest, but considering this unit is so affordable, it is difficult to complain. I really like the form factor of the unit. The tall, slim design fits well in the corner of the room, and I appreciate how the exhaust hose doesn't block more of the window view than necessary. This air conditioner is a great value for the current price of about $200. Overall, I'm happy with the "Garvee Portable Air Conditioner, Portable AC Built-in Cool with Dehumidifier and Fan Modes, Remote Control and Easy Window Installation Kit (8KBTU)". ... show more

  • Works great and is a great value for a portable AC Works great and is a great value for a portable AC
It is not very warm yet in Colorado but I picked a few warmer days to give this a test drive. I have a bedroom that always seems to be a lot warmer than the rest of the house. Unfortunately, it is the one I sleep in. This portable air conditioner does the trick! It actually does more than just run as an air conditioner; it is also a dehumidifier and a fan. It is tall and slender, so it fits in just about any space you want to put it in. Installation is easy. The hardest part for me was getting the included hose connected to the adapters that allows it to be put in the window and on to the back of the AC. When you are doing the installation make sure you install the water drain hose and put it in to a bucket so that if it is running in dehumidifier or AC mode, you will not get water all over the floor. It is simple to use. It does come with a remote control but I prefer to just use the buttons on the front. The way I will use this is to start it up about an hour before bedtime to cool the room down and then set the timer to turn it off in about 7 hours. It uses the most power in AC mode; it uses about 1.3 KWh which is not a huge amount of power, but if you use it for 7 hours a day and your electricity costs $0.15/KWh then it will cost you about $1.40/day to run. Also, that is about 10 amps of power. Not a huge electric load, but don't plug it in to a lightweight extension cord. And do not use it on an electrical circuit that might already have a heavy load This A/C is rated at 8,000 BTUs so it will effectively cool a room between 300 and 400 square feet. The smaller the room, the better it will do. If you put this in a room with more than 400 square feet, it might take a very long time to cool or never get down to the temperature you set it to. On the whole, I like this AC. It works great and is a great value. ... show more

  • Powerful AC in a small form factor Powerful AC in a small form factor
This little unit comes in handy for backup AC for my rental properties during humid summers. It cools a roughly 300-400 sq ft space quickly, buying me time if an HVAC tech is going to take longer than a day to get out. Drops the temp noticeably in about 20-30 minutes on high. The three modes (cooling, dehumidifier, fan) are handy. Dehumidifier mode pulls tons of moisture out without feeling like it's working overtime. Setup with the included window kit was straightforward, no major leaks or issues. Remote control and 24-hour timer make it easy to set before bed, and sleep mode gradually adjusts fan speed for quieter operation (it's not silent, but tolerable at night). Wheels roll smoothly for moving between rooms. Energy use seems reasonable for the power it delivers. For the price, it's really great. better than I expected. Great for small to medium rooms if you need portable relief without a window unit. ... show more

  • Works well, uses a but more energy than I prefer
I got this stand up 8K BTU AC unit to run in my workshop that is otherwise unairconditioned. It does well to cool the corner where my desk is. I used a Kilawatt meter and found it uses 800Wh. As I'm only running it for the few hours I am in there, that's alright. but if I were to need to run it all day, say in a home, that is a lot of energy. This may be fine for someone who doesn't have the ability to use a window unit. With that said, it cools well. Once out of the box it's easy to roll round on the wheels. The portability will be useful when we have another long power outage in the summer. It operates fairly quietly. Not detractingly noisy. Remote is simple to operate. Complete kit that only requires a cracked open window to install the exhaust side of the ducting. ... show more

  • Nice AC Nice AC
Great unit. The AC unit works amazingly. I live in a studio (not sure of the dimensions) and it cooled the whole place down nicely. I will say, the air did not come out in a straight wave. I had to angle it to the right in order to allow the air flow to reach the other side of the studio.
