    • Great Watch but sad story

Let me start out by saying this is a great watch. I used this as my daily watch only removing it to shower and recharge. It worked very well with my sleep tracking and recording my steps, reading altitude, mapping locations/routes taken, receiving phone notifications and the battery life is great as well. Unfortunately, after owning this watch for a little over a year now, I'm experiencing some major malfunctions. The battery started to die faster than normal (within a day) usually lasting roughly 2 weeks granted I'm not working out everyday. The screen also began to freeze up a lot. I did research and attempted to troubleshoot and reduce the demand on the watch, limiting notifications and keeping backlight at low %. I also have done both soft and hard resets on the watch. None of the above has reduced the symptoms experienced so I contacted Garmin directly and performed troubleshooting with them as well. They also informed me that of course I was out of my warranty timeframe. Unfortunately, after the troubleshooting the results were the same and a replacement option was given. I opted not to do the replacement because they were intending to send me a refurbished device. And I would've had to pay $190 +tax and send my device prior to them shipping out the replacement. This isn't an uncommon process but I have never had good experiences with refurbished devices. Again this was a great watch when it was working as designed. Sadly, it didn't last much longer than a year. I purchased and received the watch in July 2021 and it's currently October 2022. So, for me this watch didn't meet my expectations but I hope if you purchase this device you don't have this experience. This is a great device and I hope this is just a one off experience. Overall I love this watch. I’ve waited several months to write a review in part to do with wanting to see how well the GPS performed after the leaves come out. It does very well. I haves used this daily in several locations in the mountains of western NC and after I learned it’s little quirks I have to give it five stars. It has been used on multiple search and rescue operations as my primary gps and all the features from the altitude, barometer, temp and location have been fairly accurate. As with anything electronic it is always back up by map and compass but I can say it’s made my daily and work life easier. The only thing I don’t like is that on my main watch face the altitude and elevation do not change unless I’m using a gps widget, I’m guessing this is in part to helping extend the battery life. Once I learned this has to be calibrated when I change areas I can say it’s an acceptable quirk. It’s a little slow when you first start up one of the many gps options but runs fast after that. Sets up to give current location in lat and long and USNG which is awesome for quickly calling in my location during rescue operations. All the other health tracking options work great and I find helpful for work outs and hiking. Watch is very durable and I love that I can read the face in any sunlight and while wearing polarized sunglasses. So far a good purchase for the needs I have. ... show more

I've only had this watch for a few weeks, but OMG it's freaking awesome!!! I've been looking at the Garmin Fenix 6X Solar for a while now, but didn't want to pay the bucks. Finally, I decided to pull the trigger - but ended up going big as I passed the Fenix6 for the tactix Delta Solar. And so glad I did now as the tactix combines Solar with the Sapphire glass. At this point, I've no intention of adding a screen protector because of the Sapphire glass properties. This watch has so much potential and features, and I've only scratched the surface on functionality. This might very well become my last watch as I'm nearing retirement age. The battery life is much an improvement oveer the Samsung Gear that I've now tossed into my junk drawer... lol - So far, the tactical watch has surpassed my every expectation and worth every penny to me. ... show more

Best watch Ive had so far. I expect it to last for a very long time. Update: 10/12/2021. I feel like I've had this watch long enough to give this review some more details. The battery life when on battery save mode is amazing. I'm talking 80 days easy. I almost made it to 90 with how much time I spend in the sun. BUT. the only way you will be able to have that kind of battery life is if you put it in "Time Only" mode. Which is pretty much battery save with everything disabled. For my daily use I have the watch in battery save mode with HR sensor on. Battery estimated to last 67 days with no sun. Important thing to know about solar charging the watch. If you put it in battery saver mode and have 100% solar. It will take 3-4 hours to go up by 1%. With my current battery setting I go through 1.5-2% battery per day. This may be different per user. I feel like I should add that I use the NFC payment fairly often and it's barely effected the battery life. I'll update this if anything crazy happens ... show more

This will be the last watch you ever have to buy. The Tactix does everything you could possibly ask it to do and more. Built very hardy, it’s kept up with my rugged lifestyle and still doesn’t even have a scratch on the face. It has a sleek, cool design and feels good on the wrist. Large watchface easy to read. My only complaint is that the solar feature is pretty negligible. I haven’t seen a change in battery life when exposing to direct sunlight for hours at a time. ... show more
