  • Unbelievable customer service and great device.
I never write reviews. I need to tell everyone that this device is incredible, and the customer service that goes along with it is just as good. The handheld had issues about eight or nine months after I bought it, and I called customer service. Within five minutes, they had allowed me to ship back the handheld and are sending me a new one. Not only is product a great GPS and correctional collar for the dog, but the customer service throws them over the top. Of course it’s a little more expensive than other brands, but I would never go anywhere else other than Garmin. Kudos to them. ... show more

  • Track & Train with Ease
I like this training system. It's easy to hold and work any button needed. The tracker is simple and user friendly. I'm glad I invested in the Garmin 550 Pro.

  • Pro 550 Plus verse Garmin Astro
I own the Pro 500 controller and 3 collars , Astro Garmin Dog collar (which I hate) so I purchased this collar because it is simple and similar to my favorite Pro 500. I have used it for couple of months at dog trials and hunting ! I love it ! I only need to know where my dog is !! not top maps or various locations Astro :( . It holds a charge , it's not to HOT like other brands, easy to start up and use. I will be buying more collars !! Great product ... show more

  • Many valuable new features. Improvements needed.
I have previously owned Tritronics/ Garmin Pro 100xls & G2 units and used an Alpha unit. I ran into two guys looking for a lost 13 yr old springer in October. They’d been searching for two days in 20 deg temps. Heartbreaking. My wife closed the deal on the Pro 550+ purchase as there was no way I’m gonna have a similar experience with my 1.5 yr old setter pup. I like the ability for two types of non- stem correction. A beep means check in and a shake means let’s not do that. At this point I rarely need stem but a nick at 2 or 3 is very soft and yet gets my pups undivided attention. Controls are handy. Screen easy to read and just the basics. The Alphas are too complicated to upland hunt. The headlight feature is great at dusk. Big conference boost for me. Charging system is best yet from Garmin. Needs improvement. Spinning up the system contacting satellite and then the collar can take FOREVER. I have Had Garmin units on my boats and handheld golf units that were way faster spinning up even 15 yrs ago. Come on guys. It’s tech. My phone knows where it is in 30 seconds. The tracking is only fair in pine woods where we hunt quail. It must be nice to walk the plains of Kansas. Some of us live elsewhere. It’s hard to tell if the distance to dog is in ft or yds. Should be clear at a glance. Units alert for a point is not dependable. Catches some, not others. Reception is better if held out of vest, but unit doesn’t have a lanyard or holster. Latter should come with the unit. Units are black, should be orange. Have you ever searched for a black collar that the dog slipped in heavy under growth? The collar strap is black. And the unit design makes it difficult to add a strap with a brass nameplate. My biggest problem is that by now the Tri/ Garmin collar units should be more compact. My pup weighs 42# so I followed Garmin reco and bought large TT15. A mini would fit way better, but give up performance. She wears a 14” collar. Reco should be by collar size as an over large collar is hard to mount right. And by this time in tech the collar unit should be half as large as they are. And the over long whip antenna. If the tracking were flawless I could maybe see that lack of product innovation. An industry leader like Garmin should do better. Don’t get me wrong. This is a good unit. But I’m betting 2 yrs from now it will be refined into the unit they should have offered out the gate. And my $650 unit will be worth about $100. Meanwhile, for yard training I’m keeping my Pro 100. Looking for a reconditioned mini collar. Purchasing an orange color strap and looking to add a vest holster somehow. None of this should be necessary at this price point. ... show more
