The GMB 10 network port Expander allows you to connect multiple chartplotters and sensors over the Garmin marine network. With this robust 100 MB switch, you can connect multiple multi-functional displays (mfds) and sensors to the marine network and gain the benefit of ethernet-like data transfer speeds up to 10 times faster than some competitive systems. Just Plug-and-Play : The GMS 10 and the Garmin Marine Network are completely plug-and-play, which means all peripherals are automatically detected and readily accessible once they’re connected to the network. • Works Great for Expanding Your Boat's Networked Items Like Garmin MFDs!
Style: Expander Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I just purchased a new Sportsman 231 Heritage Center Console boat that came with a Garmin 943 MFD and wanted to add a second MFD. However, my boat came with a Seakeeper Ride system (that's amazing by the way) and it was taking up the only RJ45 network port on the back of Garmin 943. I purchased the Garmin 10 Network Port Expander to be able to add the second Garmin 943 and it worked perfectly for my purpose. I hooked up both MFDs and the Seakeeper and everything communicated with each other right away with no issues. I'm very happy with the product. What I like about it: Comes with a RJ45 network cable (saves you $30-ish). Solid design and was basically plug and play (you do need to power it). It doesn't void the Garmin warranty as it is a Garmin product. Installation was easy (I used some double sided 3m marine tape, 4 SS screws and screwed it to a starboard panel in my console. My only complaints are: The waterproof screw on plastic parts on the network cable are two pieces and while everything was able to be snugged up, they seem cheap and be a bit of a pain to figure out at first. Wish it was just one solid piece attached to the cable. It is a bit big/bulky if you don't have much space. The 10 in the title made me think it had 10 ports which it only has 5. It is a bit pricey but really what isn't when it comes to a boat. I wish Garmin made a 3 port or some sort of splitter since that's all I needed. ... show more

I bought a new boat and added a lot of electronics (all Garmin) and wanted everything talking with each other. I know I could have gone a cheaper route and made my own network hub for less but after dropping $30K on a brand new boat, I figured what's another $200-ish in the big scheme of things. It's been working perfectly so far. I have 2 Garmin 93sv's and a live scope connected and no problems at all. It's easy to mount, and gives a nice clean look when completed. ... show more

  • Expensive and didn't work

$228 for a 100mbit 5 port switch. A switch that in the data world cost $20, 20 years ago, and today would cost $5. This Garmin unit came out in 2004..... On top of that, the one I bought didn't even turn on. No lights at all, and wouldn't function. 12v at the connector, but dead unit. Had to return and request another. Not impressed at all Garmin. At least Amazon makes returns easy. ... show more
