  • Awesome
Size: DriveSmart 55T
I've had Garmin GPS devices and they were all easy to use, accurate and much easier to follow rather than looking at your phone. The screen is the perfect size and with the donut style, weighted mount, it fits great into the corner of the dash so it doesn't obstruct your view or fall off like most windshield mounts do. Very happy with it. While my 2004 Lexus SUV has a GPS, it is nowhere near as advanced as this Garmin. It even tracts the speed limits on any given road and gives you a small warning when you are speeding, not that anyone does that, right? Updates are done directly through Wifi anywhere it is available. These are always nice to have when you travel and the detail on the screen is great as far as upcoming roads, etc. Buy it, you won't regret it. ... show more

  • Easy to use

This is the 2nd Garmin GPS I bought. It works great and the features provided is more than required. The only point I'd like to mention is that the calculation speed is slower than expected compared to cellphone map app, but it doesn't need a data plan.

  • The best GPS for the money and the dashboard base is amazing
Size: DriveSmart 55T
I have owned a total of ten or more GPS systems for my vehicles over the years. There are four of us so we all need one. Garmin can last for years and years. You also can update the maps. This GPS is wonderful. I love the base. It does not slide around yet it also is easy to move from one spot to the other. The GPS is incredible. It even has a History Channel app on it for historical places. Gives you restaurants, gas stations, and more. Went to Florida and back and it was just amazing. I highly recommend this Garmin GPS and also the dashboard GPS base. ... show more

  • Great GPS for the most part
Size: DriveSmart 65T
We just got back from a whirlwind tour of the US NE states (MA, ME, VT) + Montreal Canada and it did its job to get us around. It had no issues acquiring satellite, even on the more remote areas it took us on our trip (Hwy 302 from Portland, ME to Montreal, Canada). I was able to save our hotel addresses beforehand, and was able to find places like restaurants, national parts, parking, etc. on the fly. The voice prompts were VERY accurate - I really like where it tells you to "make a left at the stop light" instead of just announcing the street. The big screen was perfect for me since I can just glance at it momentarily to see if I'm on the correct route. I also liked the warnings it gave on speed limit changes and traffic cameras - this probably saved me from a couple of tickets :). I did use the traffic feature just to warn me of traffic, but not knowing where i was I didn't veer off the path. I only gave it 4 starts though because on a couple of occasions it told me to turn onto a 1-way street in Montreal, Canada. I'm glad had my wife to help me navigate and point this out otherwise it would've have been wreck city. ... show more

  • Garmin Drivesmart 65 is a excellent product, accessories are weak
Size: DriveSmart 65T
I had a previous wide screen model (2797 LMT) for about 8 years and liked it so much I bought this one when that was stolen. Too bad Garmin doesn't have some way to disable stolen devices. Notable improvement over the 2797 LMT: much easier to enter GPS coordinates because the feature is way easier to find. it's easier to enter addresses outside of your local area. the touch-screen is more sensitive. But... The dash mount shipped with it (suction cup mount in a sandbag donut) is stupid and useless. Didn't anyone there test it??? Temperature on the dashboard warms up, and it instantly comes unstuck and falls on the floor. Angle is wrong unless you are a bus driver looking down at it. The old 2797LMT had mechanical fastener and it worked flawlessly for years. It also comes with a carrying case. Great, but NO lanyard on the case! Who designed that! ... show more

  • This is a Garmin product?
Size: DriveSmart 55T
I have three Garmin GPS models. Before I purchased a third Garmin I did a lot of research and what I found was a good bit of negativity so I was concerned with purchasing one so instead of the Garmin brand I went with an off brand that is basically a small tablet with GPS maps on it. I disliked the off brand one so I once again looked into the Garmin. I still saw negativity of the product but I decided to give it a try. I have used this Garmin for long and short trips and I find the Garmin to be frustrating. If you are lucky enough to get the "right address" in the Garmin it does a decent job of getting you to your destination but getting the address into the Garmin for it to recognize where you want to go can be difficult to non-existent. I will try to elaborate more on what I am talking about. Overall I wish when you select the option of a new address/destination it would ask you to either use the default state you are in or select a new state with a destination address. I know that even with the older Garmin devices you had to select another state and city if you did not want to use the default state and city. Four issues I have: 1. Trying to enter a new address and the Garmin has no clue about the address you put in. a. When you go through the steps of entering in a new valid address, if it does not "find" the address it either seems to keep spinning like it is trying to find something and comes back with nothing or it comes back with address locations you did not want to go to. This is absolutely frustrating. 2. Changing the State and City before entering a new address location and it comes back with destinations in other states. 3. Entering in a destination address and it does not go to the correct address. a. I found where I wanted to go on Google Maps and I entered the address and the Garmin wanted to take me somewhere else. I tried this address two or three more times with no change in the Garmin. I was extremely frustrated with the Garmin at this point! 4. Entering a City, State, and destination but it shows you are pretty much already there. a. If you remember and you put in the state and city before you enter in a new address it may find it and things seem to go ok, but it is confusing because after you enter the address it may tell you that your destination is less than a mile away. Confusing until you understand it is probably basing the location of the Garmin at that second on the address you typed in and it thinks you are almost there. At this point you just ignore the thing and it eventually understands you are not there and it will route you to where you want to go. I feel bad for giving it such a bad rating without more usage to solidify my findings to be 100% due to the Garmin and not something I am messing up somehow. Garmin, if you are "listening" please go back to the drawing board on searching for a new address. Of the three Garmin's I own this newest one just frustrates me in trying to find an address the Garmin "approves" and allows me to go to. It also frustrates me when it finds addresses in other states I am not wanting to go to. If I put in a city and state I only want to see address locations for that city and state. Overall I am frustrated with this product but I will continue to use it and maybe the user needs more training to use it efficiently and effectively. ... show more
