  • Reliable
If you are looking for a reliable dashcam this one is for you. I had other cameras before and my biggest problem was the with the makers platform to view and transfer files. This is a Gramin they will not let you down. Super small it does not take space in front of you neither have super bad quality screens that are super bright at night. Ive been using for a while thankfully did not need to use. Its there and i know its working. ... show more

  • This dash cam has some good features, but it is also buggy and has some limitations.
This dash cam is easy to place, has high-quality video, and can stay on while the car is turned off. It also has voice commands for hands-free operation and is small and discreet. However, the mobile app has issues, the power cable is short, and it can be difficult to connect to an iPhone and maintain a connection. It also interferes with Apple CarPlay and has limited ability to capture license plates of distant cars. Additionally, there are discrepancies between the product documentation and functionality, and it does not have 4K video recording capability. ... show more

  • Great do-it-yourself dash cam
The quality is great although it’s hard to see plate numbers unless you’re close to the car. The app is easy to use and transferring clips to my phone is quick and easy. It was super easy to mount to the windshield but something to note is it sticks with a 3M type adhesive so it’s not like a suction cup where you can take it on and off. It does not come with a memory card so you’ll want to make sure to get one of those. Overall a really good dash cam, especially for the price! ... show more

  • It would be the perfect dash cam only if the app actually worked
This is the greatest dash cam overall, until you use the app… it’s super small so it doesn’t block your view. It shoots high enough quality to prove innocent in an accident and see license plates. Can stay on while car is turned off with garmin obd II cable. The only problem is that the app is about 50/50 on whether or not you can view your video history. Many times you cannot view anything from the whole day of filming on the app! What’s the point of having an app if it doesn’t even let you view the footage you need. You have to plug your micro sd into your computer if you need evidence. Just delete the app garmin or fix it ! ... show more

  • Don't Use the Short Electrical
It took me several hours to figure out how to use this camera. I had the car's accessory power turned on just about the whole time and it drained the battery to the point that the power socket in the car was disabled due to low remaining charge. I called Garmin's technical support who immediately told me that the long power cable MUST be used for powering the camera in the car. In my 2023 Audi Q5, using the shorter power cable caused the camera to lose some functionality and also caused network connection issues. So, why does the shorter power cable have a connector that directs the cord down if its only use is for connecting to a computer? The Owner's Manual is wrong stating that "you can use either of the included cables to provide power to the camera." The Garmin website states that the camera features "two power cable options, upward or downward routing, for a tidy and discreet installation." So, go figure. One issue that I had with the short cable was that I couldn't get the Live View to work in the app. Live View can be used to locate and adjust the position of the camera on the windshield. Note: when you push the record button or say Hey, Garmin, Save Video, the camera saves a video that begins 15 seconds prior to the command and lasts until 15 seconds after the command. The length of the saved video can be extended by pressing the Save Video button a second time. I only use the Vault to post trimmed videos that I share with others. I plan on buying a polarized filter for the camera. I love the miniature size and the general look of this camera and it provides good video for a dash cam. FYI, Garmin Technical sSpport told me that the camera's power consumption is typically 12 Watts (5 volts, 2.4 amps). ... show more

  • Very nice small dash cam, easy to place.
I purchased this for my wife as she has a long commute in an area with lots of aggressive and inattentive drivers. She did not want to be distracted by a screen or really anything in her field of vision. This little camera fit the bill perfectly. It was easy to mount up behind the rear view mirror with only the small red light visible to confirm it is recording. The setup was easy and I did not have any of the issues I have seen others complain about with connectivity to her phone. She uses a fairly new Samsung android phone and the Garmin application was easily able to connect and configure the camera. It does take it a couple minutes to initiate the connection and view the live video, but not anything unreasonable. The voice commands are a nice touch to save a video or image without having to take your hands off the wheel, and this is customizable as well. ... show more

  • Great.
Very small and inconspicuous. Hides behind my rear view mirror , don’t even know it’s there.

  • Works consistently, which is what you want.
A lot of dash camera devices are hit or miss. And unless you set up a dedicated video camera in your windshield, you’re not going to have consistent results. Garmin did great with this camera. It’s saved me a lot of trouble.
