This is a very good product. Visibility is very good. Satellite acquisition is much faster than with my prior S62 version. Functionality on the golf course is not much different than the S62. If you have an S62, think hard before upgrading.

I recently purchased the Garmin Approach S70 and, overall, it is an impressive golf watch. The GPS distances are accurate, the display is excellent, and the amount of data it provides is remarkable. However, there is one glaring usability issue that is difficult to overlook, especially considering the premium price of this watch. The scorekeeping workflow is surprisingly cumbersome. On many golf courses, the next tee box is located close to the previous green. In these situations, the watch often fails to recognize that the hole has been completed and does not prompt for score entry before I am already on the next hole. What should be a simple process becomes an exercise in menu navigation. To manually enter a score, I must stop play, navigate through multiple menu levels, edit the scorecard, and then separately advance the hole. There appears to be no quick "enter score and advance to next hole" function. This is particularly frustrating because it occurs precisely when pace of play matters most. Standing on or near the next tee while other golfers are waiting is not the time to be scrolling through menus on a $700 golf watch. The solution seems obvious. After holing out, users should be able to quickly select their score using the crown or touchscreen and have the watch automatically advance to the next hole with a single action. This would take seconds and would dramatically improve the user experience. Garmin has clearly invested tremendous effort into advanced features such as virtual caddie, shot tracking, and detailed analytics. It is disappointing that such a basic and common golf task feels like an afterthought. The S70 is an excellent golf watch in many respects, but the scorekeeping workflow needs significant improvement. ... show more

Overall, it's a pretty good watch with a lot going for it – the display is sharp, and it's packed with features. But honestly, the biggest thing for me, and probably for most golfers, is distance accuracy, and that's where the S70 just didn't quite hit the mark. I spent a lot of time comparing its yardages to the GPS systems in the golf carts, and they just weren't lining up consistently. I even tried updating the software, hoping that would fix it, but no luck. For a watch that's supposed to help you pick the right club, that kind of inconsistency is a real problem. Now, I'm sure you could probably spend a good amount of time really digging into the settings and trying to fine-tune it to get those yardages more accurate. But honestly, I just felt like my time would be better spent with a different option, especially since I found out that Garmin actually has a newer model out now, and it costs less! That kind of sealed the deal for me. Between the accuracy issues and the better value elsewhere, I ended up sending the S70 back. So, while it has some cool features, if getting super accurate distances is your main priority, you might want to look into other options or really do your homework before committing to the S70. ... show more

I have had this watch for many years now and it remains the highest standard for golfers. Since getting it, I can't recall even playing a round without it but it also does so much more. I wear it all the time, including sleeping, and often base my workouts on the data I get from its various functions like training readiness, HRV, and recovery times. ... show more
