I've purchased this in March 2017 and this still runs like it was running on first day. It does it's job very well within the power output it can deliver. I would like Hamilton Beach to sell Jar separately. After 6 years, the rubber gasket which is around the jar blades have worn out and turned out to break down as powder and is mixing with food. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. TL;DR: A decent blender for the money. I've used this weekly for the past 4 years to blend smoothies including frozen fruit. It's finally given in. Does the trick just fine. Sometimes you have to stop it and use a spoon to mix things around so it doesn't just blend the bottom without circulating. This isn't something the $200+ blenders do much better, so that's alright. Just use more liquid or let your frozen stuff thaw a bit first. It's a bit loud, but really they all are. I haven't found a need for various speed settings, so I actually like that there's two buttons on this thing. Now for the video. It started smelling a bit and slowing down (may have been because a collision with a spoon...) so I expected it to be at the end of its life. As a curious engineer, i screwed it open to look inside. It's extremely simple (has to be for that price, try buying a single 650W DC motor for under $30), so the switch is connected directly to the motor. The motor is a brushed DC motor, which means it has this thing called a 'commutator' which wears out over time. Any commutator might spark a little bit which is normal. In my case, the commutator started degrading to the point that it sparked enough to create small flames, causing the burnt rubber smell. I was able to clean it up and get it to run properly again, but that's just for fun, this guy is not gonna get used again. If you're thinking 'a blender is just a big motor and the more expensive ones are more expensive for no reason', you're wrong. There's different types of motors like the brushless DC motor which are more expensive but have a much longer expected lifetime. This thing is engineered pretty well, and because it's so simple, it lasted 4 years of regular use. ... show more

    • New product leaks while blending!!
New blender bought on amazon leaks. The gasket / sealing ring of blender jar is missing. That might be the reason for leakage. Have requested help and will update if required.

Does a very good job . Buttons are very sensitive. If you accidentally brush up against them it turns on. Overall great price like all the different attachments.
