I replaced the existing transponder (same model) on the boat. The previous transponder wires had become frayed after 14 years of salt water. Reused the existing mounting bracket, reran the cable, plugged in, worked like a charm.

This was purchased to replace the original transducer that came with my Garmin GPSMAP 441S. I didn't properly tie the boat down in the slip,..and with the rocking action,..the transducer was sandwiched between the pontoon and the piling, snapping it off the mount. Now, as I mentioned it was mounted on a pontoon boat,...so this secenrio may not be of any significance on a typical hull boat since it's normally mounted along the center of the transom. The mount can obviously take some damage as it was unscathed,...but the transducer's mounting locations are pretty thin and flimsy. Now, my old transducer still works, so it can obviously take a beating. I just need to find a way to mount it, since the connection points are broken. ... show more
