Tried this out and it works pretty good. When I pressed the garlic thru there was some remaining underneath. I loosened it and repressed and got it all thru. I washed it by hand and one of the little metal triangle design came off. No big deal as it does not effect how it works. You do need to have enough strength to press the garlic thru. I would recommend it.

This is easy to use, almost all of the clove is processed, but the pieces are much larger than properly minced garlic. Fine for sauces and stews, but too big for a vinaigrette.

I bought this garlic press as a gift for my granddaughter, who is in culinary school. It works like a charm. My standard garlic press always winds up with a wad of squashed garlic inside that I have to pry out with a knife tip, but with this you get every bit of garlic goodness. The peeler keeps the garlic smell off your hands. If I wasn't pathologically frugal I'd replace my own garlic press with one of these.

Our greyhound loves Dr.Marty freeze-dried raw food, but prefers that the hard bits first be softened in warm water and then crushed so as to release their flavor into a soupy mix. It was tricky and rather awkward to try to crush them with a dinner fork, but when we found this handheld little gem of a crusher it became simple to do right in her dinner bowl, and the wood-handled little flat spatula that came with it also makes it very easy to get every last yummy morsel off the crusher and into her dinner. About the negative reviews, my experience is: I never get any black residue; very little strength is needed to mash the kernels and I'm 87 yrs old; it goes through the dishwasher just fine; the tiny wood-handled metal spatula easily clears the crusher's holes; the tiny brush is handy when needed too; the metal part is sturdy enough to handle the pressure needed to mash and if the holes were any closer together the thing would bend and break and be useless.
