Sparta is machine tufted low pile cut and loop in Olefin yarn on traditional action back backing. Action back may require the use of a rug pad or gripper depending on floor type. So... I am an avid Amazon customer, and I usually know the quality of what I am going to get. Sometimes I choose to purchase lower quality because that's the type of product I need for the situation. If I need top quality, I know how to find it and I pay an appropriately higher priced item. In this case, I knew I wasn't buying a top quality rug. I was okay with that. I read the reviews and even the less positive reviews described what I needed-- a thinner, synthetic monochromatic rug. I think I had reasonable expectations. What I received was actually SHOCKING. The rug I received in the 12 x 12 size is SO BAD! I think I may have received one that someone returned? Half of the rug looks tattered and has holes where there were previous snags. The raised part that creates a patters is in worse shape on that half. Then the other half looks a bit better. If the whole thing looked like the better half, it would be much better. The way it is shipped is HORRIBLE. It is folded up and crammed into a box. Not rolled. Not protected by plastic. Nothing. Folded up like an old blanket and shoved in a box. Again, I'd be fine with the packaging except for the fact that it has left stretched out parts of the rug that will not settle down flat on the floor. It's terrible. Even though the price I paid (around $180) for a 12 x 12 is very inexpensive for the size, I'm just not sure the rug is worth much of anything. It would better be described as an outdoor carpet or something suitable for a warehouse or industrial setting. Yuck. So disappointed with the 12 x 12. What's strange is that we also ordered a 5 x 7 in the same color, and it is totally fine. It looks much better. The backing on it is much sturdier, and therefore it lays flat and looks like a carpet should, even though it's thinner. ... show more

The rug came in a very small box. After having the area rug laid on the floor for about a month now, the seam is still very obvious.I truly believe it will never come out. We have tried putting different weights on it which still has not changed anything. Once the weight is removed you can still visually see the seam. I'm sure its the size of the box this area rug came in and how tightly it was folded to actually get into it is the cause of this problem. Review update February 10th 2020 the seam has still stayed in the original configuration when we originally laid it on the floor. The seam is still very obvious. Now the new problem is the looping of the carpet is coming apart Complete waste of money as far as I'm concerned and now at this time I have no chance of returning this product for a refund. Take my advice in purchase a different area rug from a different manufacturer. ... show more

I bought the mocha 9’x12’ area rug to use in my bedroom after purchasing, and loving, the 8’x10’ orange and cream rugs to use in my living and dining rooms. Those two area rugs have been wonderful. This latest purchase is awful, however. I bought it back in Dec ‘20, and just now got around to taking it out of the box to use since we just got done re-doing our master bedroom. I had no idea that this mocha rug was so flimsy and such poor quality. The mocha rug came folded in a box this time, where the two 8’x10’ rugs I purchased before, came beautifully rolled and wrapped. Once removed from the box I noticed the mocha rug was torn at the edge about 5”, so I had to sew it back together to prevent further fraying or tearing. Once we got the rug flat on the floor you could definitely see the fold marks in the rug, so indented that you can see the light non-slip backing material of the rug. Pretty disappointed with this mocha rug after having a better go with the orange and cream colored rugs. Not sure why this larger rug is so different in quality. The color itself is nice, the backing is nice and non-slip, but it is much thinner over all, and not as nice compared to the two other rugs I bought from this seller. The only reason I’m keeping is because it took so long to finally redo our bedroom and I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to return or as for an exchange at this point. That said, the area rug does achieve the look I was going for but I just wish it was a better quality product. I have a suspicion it will not hold up over time even though it will have very light foot traffic. ... show more

Though these are a little heavier than those cheap walmart rugs, these are hard to clean/vacuum. I have a dyson and it had trouble picking up the little particles stuck in the fibers. I had to use a heavy stiff brush to bring these to the top so the vacuum can pick them up. I can only imagine if I did not have my dyson how much harder it is to clean. Also once my dog got a fiber, he was able to pull a string of the rug out. Almost like the barber carpet where once you get a strand, you can pull a whole line out. However good thing is I like the backing which helps to keep the rug in place and they are thicker than the cheap walmart or those you buy from the warehouse outlets. ... show more

Let me say, I selected this area rug due to the color option and relatively high customer reviews. This product arrived folded in a poorly taped box, I should have known immediately the quality I was receiving. This was purchased for our family room, we do have 2 dogs and 2 children, however, they do not destroy other rugs in our home. This is a high traffic area, but we experienced our first pull and pilling nearly hours after unboxing from normal wear and tear. The image I have attached is days after purchase from normal wear an tear (not even a full week). If you plan to use the area in which this rug will be left I highly recommend not purchasing this area rug - it was a giant waste of money (despite it being relatively inexpensive). ... show more

I was going to give this rug 5 stars because it's everything I want in a rug: soft, the right size and color, a great price, non slip, and machine washable...oh wait- NOT machine washable as my photos depict. I'm majority disappointed and irritated. What a mess! The rug is a total loss. If it's going to fall apart in the washer (on a bulky items setting!), why advertise it as machine washable? I'll be contacting the seller and I'm hoping they'll make this disaster right. ... show more
