We got this for touch-up trimming, and it works beautifully for that. It swaps in and out easily with the grass shears and if something gets stuck in the blades it just stops - nothing bad happens. We had another small battery operated trimmer and a tough branch caused the plastic gears to strip - nothing like that with this. I wouldn't trim hedges with it, but we have walking and riding paths that continually become overgrown, and it is easy to carry along them and nip off the encroaching stems.

I love Gardena products. They are easy to use. I wanted a three in one product with the shears, hedge clippers and the handle. I was skeptical at first and had looked at another product, but it had been discontinued. It was all for the best. This combination of the shrub blade and shears with telescoping handle is very well made. The handle is substantial and fits well into the attachments. It is very easy to attach wheels to the shears and roll the shears along the grass edge of your lawn with the handle so you don't break your back! The lithium batteries are quite sufficient for my yard and evergreens, but I do have a small yard. The lithium battery is contained in the shears and you slip off the shear attachment and replace with the shrub blade. It takes about 2 hours to recharge. I am very happy with this purchase!

I got this attachment to use for larger areas in my flower beds. I thought it would work great, since the cutter unit and the handle are so great. Well, I put this on my little cutter and found that it was having trouble even cutting grass. I thought at first that it could be the battery was running on the lower end of the charge, but that didn't do the trick. It appears that it is the blade unit and it just doesn't have the cutting sharpness it needs or it just doesn't have the right range for the blades to actually cut anything. After working with this, just getting it to cut grass, which instead was only pulling it through like a comb in hair, I switched back to my grass cutter blade and it made all the grass go away on the first pass. Don't know where they got it wrong on this one, but I could not get it to do anything, other than to comb the grass. It cut when I physically put the stems in it, just to see if it was cutting, but I'm very disappointed with the performance of this blade. I will try it again later, with a full charge on the cutter, but if it doesn't do any better than it did this morning, it's going back into the box.

I gave it 2 stars only because it was made by Gardena. I think this is the worst product they ever made. I have had great success with all of their products except this one. I would have given it one star but all of their other products are top shelf!!! Don't plan to cut too much with these as they do NOT work. Save your money. I always read reviews and there were some great reviews on this product, but all are wrong if they gave it more than 2 stars.

Cuts through small soft twigs easily, but any tough twigs, it jambs. Works great for what i use it on.

What a handy little trimmer. We (hubby) uses it to trim one of those cork screw shaped boxwood shrubs. It does a great job with little effort. No cord is a plus. Bought both attachments, long and short, for added versatility. A great purchase !
