  • Great solution for storing lumber in your garage
Style: 2 Pairs
I know, I know... I've become THAT guy that I see on social medial. The DIY'er dad that saves all his scrap lumber because you never know when you might need it. And to be fair, there have been more than a number of times that my scrap lumber collection has saved the day or allowed me to repurpose materials into something new and useful. I've made racks out of scrap 2x4s but wanted something nicer. The problem I have is that I simply don't have much space to store my scrap lumber. I've had it against the wall on the floor, but that's not good because the wood can pull moisture out of the concrete floor and warp. Also, it's a tripping hazard and at some point will cause you to lose it out of frustration. I've also tried storing scrap wood in the attic, but c'mon, we all know that's a terrible idea on so many levels. These metal storage racks are exactly what I was looking for. High visibility orange, but a nice dark orange that doesn't look like hunting gear. I have an older home built in 1964 and the garage is a nice, two car garage, but I can barely fit my truck. I am literally up against the wall when parked and the door has about 6 inches of clearance to close. The area on the garage wall above my truck is wasted space, so that is where I decided to place my new racks. The racks are made out of square iron and the corners are cut, bent, and then welded opposite the bent side. There are no welds on the side which doesn't seem to impact its strength. I'm sure it was done to save a few pennies, but this seems to be a common design. The ends have a plastic cap. The racks come with all the necessary mounting screws. I measured out the span and located the studs in the wall and marked the first bracket. Once that was secured, I placed the next one and using a long level, ensured it was level and drilled my holes and drove in the bolts using a socket wrench. The leveling and drilling of pilot holes took the longest, but installation took less than 30 minutes. I'm planning to install sheetrock on that wall this fall, so having the bolts allows me to easily take these down and put them back up again. The only thing I wish it had was some sort of rubber pin on the ends to keep lumber from falling off. The wood is not going anywhere, but sometimes I do hit that wall hard enough that I've been worried about wood falling off onto the hood of my truck, but it's rock solid, so no issues. I may drill a hole in the front of each bracket and then run a braided steel cable down that is secured top/bottom to ensure there is no chance of the wood shifting or falling. We also live in earthquake country, so always looking for ways to keep safe from things shifting or falling in the event of an earthquake. But that is no reflection on the company and this product. This has been the solution I've been looking for a very long time. So easy, clean, and sturdy. I could not be happier and now I have a nice place to keep all my extra lumber, because you never know, right?! C'mon guys, back me up here! I always read the reviews before buying on Amazon and like you, I appreciate honest, thoughtful reviews that help me make an informed decision. I hope you find this review helpful! ... show more

  • budget solution to organizing your lumber but lackluster quality
Style: 2 Pairs
For the price alone I would give these support shelves 5 stars but I had to deduct one star on the lack of qulaity control. As you can see in the photo with a 90-degree square pressed up against it, there is a noticeable lack of a 90-degree angle. the welds look fine but the quality was a little disappointing. Granted I dont expect any issues with load capacity but the finished product should have a higher standard of quality for such a simple design. Thus 4 stars but like I said, if it was based on price alone, these are a very good deal if you can tolerate any visual imperfections. ... show more

  • Good storage solution for a good price
Style: 2 Pairs
My lumber storage solution before I installed these Walmann Garage Wall Mounted Lumber Storage pieces was my roll around scaffold. When I didn’t have much, it wasn’t a big problem, but I can’t ever pass up the 70% off lumber cart at the orange DIY store, so I basically lost use of my scaffold. I moved fence lumber to our backyard temporary shed, but my scaffold still had composite decking, 2x4s, 4x4x and all manner of other “oh, of course I’ll need that” boards. I found the studs and installed the rack parts using the included hardware. The first set I installed at just above my eye level and the other set was installed below the first set. I contemplated installing them at different widths, but Hubby convinced me that was short-sighted and to make them even. My vehicle will only carry items up to 10 ft long, so that was the longest item to consider. Most of my lumber pile is 8 ft so I skipped a stud when installing the second piece at each level and it is just glorious! I wouldn’t say that I guard my lumber pile like a dragon guards gold, but I do like to see everything organized and ready when inspiration hits. I loaded the my lumber stash and the racks are holding it as expected - no obvious stress or pulling the hardware from the stud. I’m happy to have my scaffold back and my wood pile organized! Thumbs up! ... show more

  • Great Build Quality and Ease of Use.
Style: 2 Pairs
Why I Got This: I have an assortment of Wood in My Garage just lying on the floor and have been searching for a good Wood Rack. I came across this and was impressed with the size and ease of this model since you don’t have to assemble it and it comes ready to go as one piece. Effectiveness/Impressions/Use: This is a VERY nice and sturdy Rack Brackets. They are One Piece units Welded together and ready to go right out of the box. They are a good dimensional size for me that will fit 2x4 up to larger 2x14 wood that I have. You effectively get three shelves for each set and there are two sets so you have six shelves to set wood. I also like the dimensions (about a foot) so it’s enough to fit in lumber but won’t stick out too far. It’s the perfect size for me. Build Quality: The build quality is very good. It’s welded together with clean sturdy welds and the finish coating (power coated or painted im not sure) but is a durable well applied smooth finish. I has end caps already put in. This is a solid heavy gage steel that will take a heavy load. Design: The Design is very good. It’s perfect for a garage wood storage but I also feel you could use this to create your own (very sturdy) shelving if you wanted. Ease of Use: Very easy to use. Just bolt to studs in your walls with the included bolts. The advantage is there is nothing to assemble, nothing to break. It’s just a nice solid piece of steel that is going to handle anything. I can easily slide wood in and out of this. Conclusion: This is a unique wood rack in that unlike other, this is single piece welded which is just a cleaner more sturdy and more cleaner nicer looking design. Very happy with this! ... show more
