We had a project for a camp washer with a 5 gallon bucket. The lid we had was too hard to get on and off this lid was perfect for the job! It sealed tight and didn’t leak. When I cut the hole it was smooth cutting. I’m sure they will be great for food storage too. We will be buying more.

Be prepared to buy a better gasket because the gaskets that are installed on the lid do not keep out air, moister or even water. These lids would be great if they used a thicker, wider gasket on the lid it's self I hate to give bad reviews. But I all so hate to spend good money on a product that makes you have to purchase something to make the product do what they advertise it will do. In this case it is the fact they allow water in and it all so allows water out. The seal that mounts to the bucket does as it is intended to do. So no this was not a total waste. They just need to improve the one seal and they will have happier customer ... show more

If you buy the store brand 5 gl pails and add this lid to it, you save a lot over the ones that are used for food storage. I use for bird seed and dog food. A little hard to get on the pail but you only do that once. Lid screws on and off easily.

These are amazing, I have like 5 of them now. I buy the cheapest color (happened to be white this time and yellow last time) and for some reason it's a good $10 or more less than the other colors. I guess some people color code what's inside based on food food, supplies, etc. I'll just write on the lid or bucket what's inside. My husband did have to use a mallet to get the actual lip of the lid on the 5 gallon bucket, but it wasn't that intense. I'm really glad I found these lids. I paired them with good grade 5 gallon buckets from lowes. They're good to store salt, sugar, rice, flour, and other necessities. Will continue to buy as needed. ... show more
