  • Save your Money !!!!
I wish I read the reviews prior to purchasing. I heard this author did quite a few books on Galveston and since I live close I was interested, but that change quickly. Tell me a story with some facts and I will be ok, but there really wasn't a story, and the religion aspect was a turn off for me. And all the picture were fuzzy like all ghost hunting pictures are, nothing really there. I will not be buying any books by this author in the future. ... show more

  • Galveston haunted Walmart
But this book for my daughter. She enjoys reading about haunted places and loves the book. Need a book for hotel Galvez, which is supposed to be haunted.

  • Overpriced
$25 for a few pages bound together to look like a book. Don't waste your time or money

  • Pitiful
This was a pitiful misrepresentation of a sad story. The price is outrageous for what was provided and described.

  • So horribly written, I couldn’t get past that to the story
I am fascinated by the 1900 storm in Galveston, and when I saw an ad for this book I thought it would be a good one to continue with my reading on the subject. It only had 3 reviews with no explanations but it averaged out to 3 stars. I know that star ratings can be deceiving as people rate low because of any number of reasons that have nothing to do with the actual product. So, l downloaded the preview as the book itself was $25 and I wanted to see why it had been rated so low before paying that much. I couldn’t get past the writing long enough to take in the content. When you “stumble” over the way something is written to the point you cannot enjoy the story, it’s a ‘No’ for me. Shame. Great subject. Real shame. ... show more

  • My review is more entertaining!
Terrible! I only got to Chapter 3 and had to stop. It starts out with a regurgitated history of the 1900 Storm and a little bit about the Orphanage and the Nuns. She states part of her research was "looking at old pictures". Then there is a fair share of Religion (which is fine) - but includes recited prayers, lengthy poems and a tidbit I truly enjoyed about how GOD came to her in a dream and told her about TikTok 22 years before its inception. Yes.....you read that right! GOD told her about TikTok! There are some stories about her childhood home and her Dad that have NOTHING to do with Walmart or the Orphanage - but they are in there just the same. By Chapter 3 we hear A LOT of self-promotion - she mentions her other books numerous times, articles and interviews she's been asked to do (although I have no idea why), and a Sales Pitch about making her book into a Documentary or maybe a Movie. This is where I had to stop. I couldn't take it anymore and I was in a car without a radio! Silence was preferrable to listening to this book! But....curiosity got to me when I saw a "Special Bonus" about the Peanut Butter Warehouse. Now this is a place I remember going to as a child, so imagine my excitement to hear about Ghosts and stuff. NOPE! The Special Bonus Chapter has an antidote about how she went to the PBWH to sell her book, but the rent was too high, so she went to the Dollar Store to get some candy, BUT! - in a strange twist of fate! - she got THE WRONG CANDY and had to go back and exchange it. People, I couldn't make this up if I wanted to. There was some more dribble about how she ended up being a Vendor at the PBWH Market Days in November and took a picture of her Booth, but Jack the Ghost showed up in the picture, so she deleted it because - and I quote - "she doesn't like looking at ghosts" ... show more

  • Galveston orphanage
Interesting read. I have read books about the 1900 storm. Didn’t realize that Walmart was built where the orphanage, stood before it was destroyed by the hurricane.

  • Way too expensive
Wife bought it. Her review to me was so bad that I had to read it myself. Dang she was right again. The pictures of repaving of the Walmart parking and the skulls going into the dump truck ? I didn't see any. I think the flying fire extinguisher must have just fallen off the hanger it was on. Anyway...I have to say it wasn't much of a book in my opinion. ... show more
