  • Comfortable, concealable, minimalist and secure
This holster works great for the 9mm Shield. It has solid retention; normal activity including running poses no danger of accidental loss. I wear this comfortably for twelve hours at a stretch. It felt fine when it was new, but now that it's conformed to where I keep it (4 o'clock), it's better still. Yes, you can tuck any shirt over this holster. Dress shirt, t-shirt, whatever. It's nice to be able to do it when the wind comes or you need to tuck for any other reason. It's also easy to put on and remove this holster after you're already dressed. I find I have to undo my belt but that's it. Once you pick the right spot for it, just index the forward clip to the same place each time and it's quick to put on. I find it easier to put on without the pistol in the holster. Once in a while I get a little sensitivity because I feel the stitching on the back pressing into my skin. But I've tried other brands, and other issues (clumsy retention clips, too much leather, etc.) make this the most comfortable I've had. I considered gluing some moleskin to the back, but the stitching is less than 3 mm from the edge of the holster; I doubt I could glue it precisely enough to be worth doing. The small size of the holster does mean that the gun butt is in contact with your skin. If you are in a really hot climate and want leather to prevent your sweat from getting on your gun, this might not be right for you. I use this to keep my carry piece well hidden, while still accessible. Therefore I've adjusted it to sink as deep as possible. Another reviewer noted that single-handed rehostering is difficult and I agree (it's not impossible but I prefer to use my weak hand to make sure garments don't get into the trigger). But I'm much more likely to need to draw quickly than reholster quickly. I use this for IDPA competition and don't feel the holster is holding me back. Well, I'm sure a more purpose-built holster would be faster, but I really am trying to build skills applicable to daily carry. A good feature of the Galco is that the retention hooks are each secured with two fasteners. This leads to less shifting than I've found with other holsters, including the Crossbreed MiniTuck and the Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC. And like the Crossbreed, the retention clips are low-profile, unlike the MTAC (the MTAC is not worse, it's just more adjustable, but that leads to greater bulk better suited to competition than all-day wear). So this Galco holster is great for subtle concealment. The curve behind the gun butt is really only there to help you reholster and keep the barrel opening easy to find, and as noted above, does not keep your pistol's grip away from your skin. If you have grip tape or something on your Shield you may find too much grabbing or abrasion on your skin. In fact I have this same holster but built for a Glock, and my gen 4's aggressive checking really makes the Galco uncomfortable without an undershirt. Not a problem with the holster, just something to know. Due to the carry-friendly texture of the Shield, this is NOT an issue with the Shield/Galco combination, thus the five stars. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a comfortable IWB for a S&W M&P Shield 9. ... show more

  • Great holster
Had this holster a year now. Worn daily. Works great. Retention is very firm, almost too much in some instances, it sometimes wants to pull the holster out of my pants instead of the gun out of the holster. Otherwise it's extremely comfortable. I will forget I'm wearing this holster often. I'm 6' 195lbs and you can't tell I'm wearing it with my m&p shield with just a t-shirt on. A year of EDC and you can barely tell the holster is worn. It's obviously conformed to my body and stretched, but only like a pair of jeans in which it's stretched enough to where it's so comfortable to wear now. The stitching is holding up great, as well as the plastic and retention. I recommend this holster to others often and would definitely buy again if I ever decide to try another gun for ccw. ... show more

  • Great product
I wanted to wait to review this because I was wondering about the earlier comments regarding the brek in. When I first put it on, I was thinking "what breakin?" After some experimentation with location, it was comfortable right away, but after wearing it for a few weeks, I get it. It continues to conform and feel "natural. It appears well made and I use it without the 1 1/4" C-Hooks without any worry of it coming off when drawing. ... show more

  • VERY COMFORTABLE, DURABLE, and CONCEALABLE
Y'all this beats Alienware any day or night of the week. I am not a long-time user of concealed holsters, but I had the Alienware for a full-size .45 S&W for about 1 1/2 years and this Kingtuk for several months now. It was decently comfortable the Alienware, and considering I am not a large or tall person, I figured it was about as comfortable a 4:30 carry I could get for IWB. I was dead wrong. Granted I now carry the smaller S&W Shield 9mm for deep concealability, right away this holster was a true fit. It has been fitted in true hybrid fashion with a leather backing that conforms after some weeks to the perfect contour of the waistline, and a kydex type molding fastened to the leather back to secure the sidearm. I climb in attics and under houses for a living and do a LOT of bending and stooping as part of my job. While it does print a little when bending over from the waist (obviously terribly dificult to not print anything larger than a sub-compact .22 at 4:30 when bending from the waist), I have the IWB tucked in every day for work, and you'd never know it. I forget very often that I am carrying at all. This thing is mostly comfortable even sitting. Some adjustment required for sitting in a vehicle on long trips, but that is to be expected and I don't mind it much at all. The draw is easy and with just the right grip. I have yet to break this Shield in at the range, but this holster is perfection. Excellent, excellent product that has been worth every penny. ... show more

  • Nice but not for me.
Maybe it's because I'm overweight but this holster acted like a shoe horn for my pants at the the 4 o'clock position. I'd have to tighten my belt to the point of discomfort to keep my pants from dropping down 3-4 inches on that side of my body. Very annoying because it's otherwise a great holster. The leather backing was just too smooth against my underwear and my pants would easily drop 3-4 inches if I put any downward force on the grip. This was for a S&W Shield. ... show more

  • A nice holster but there was a issue....
I have my other holsters from Galco, and I knew this one would be perfect too! Well it almost was. I bought this for a M&P Shield (loaded chamber indicator). The issue was, when loaded, the chamber indicator would hit the kydex and would half rack the slide. A little heat gun work and it fixed that problem. Once broken in I can hardly tell it's there. ... show more
