Alas after twelve years my expensive over the stove microwave no longer emits microwaves.
Color: Black Size: .7 cu ft Style: Modern Pattern Name: Microwave Oven
While the expensive stainless steel, convection oven, and overhead stove vent, microwave, lost its microwave function everything else works. That likely means the Magnetron has failed. It could mean the diode has failed too, but either case has too much labor involved to repair. I looked at having a new one installed, but those big box stores that do it require a specific vent size and refuse to do any modifications, so you can be left with a mess dealing with contractors. The good news is except for the microwaves themselves every other function works. I can even use the convection oven feature if needed. Still, I need the convenience of a microwave. Thinking about it a bit I remembered I have a large countertop oven on my prep table. This particular model fits perfectly on top. I bought a heat-resistant mat to prevent slippage of the microwave feet and installed it out of the box in five minutes. While much smaller and less powerful than my old unit, this fits most of the things I use a microwave for. Heating water, melting butter, small frozen dinners, reheating pizza and sandwiches, it does them all fine. The price of this was fantastic as it cost roughly one tenth of the cost of my old unit, and less than the trip charge a local repair facility would charge me to evaluate a repair estimate. I like the retro look and the simple controls although there is a bit of a learning curve. My old unit had mostly intuitive buttons, so selecting power levels and presets was easy. I never bothered with the manual on my old unit, but I've had to access this one a few times for the special timed cook, reheat, defrost and other settings. It's not overly complex, but you do need some information. I laminated a card with the basic settings I'll use and attached it with a magnet to my fridge. That should help. despite less power most things I've used it with cook nearly as fast and as complete as the old unit. Recommended. ... show more

Excellent Microwave
Color: Green Size: 1.1 cu ft Style: Modern Pattern Name: Microwave Oven
Excellent Microwave! I hesitated to purchase because I had never heard of this brand. The styling, price, and size fit our needs. And we are very pleased with the product quality and functionality. Would definitely recommend and purchase again. I’ve owned a few brands before (GE Profile, Sharp, etc) which I would not recommend. ... show more

Funky, stylish, and good for a few reasons
Color: Red Size: .9 cu ft Style: Modern Pattern Name: Microwave Oven
I recently went traveling to a place where I'd be for several weeks, but it had no microwave. So I went ahead and ordered this Galanz model. Advantages: Not super-high power draw (900w rated), so not much chance of tripping breakers. Just big enough for a dinner plate. The child controls can be disabled, although the instructions they provided for doing it weren't accurate. It certainly cooked well enough for my purposes, and while it was loud when it first turns on, this quiets almost immediately to a low level. For me, it was a fantastic choice to serve as a "travel microwave", and I got it super cheap here. I also quite like how with a single knob control, you quickly start an automatic 30 sec cycle, but if you turn the knob during this, the overall time increments as high as you like. This got me thinking that it might be a good microwave oven for those without much space and who perhaps are a little technology-challenged. "Put food in. Close door. Push button. Turn to the time you want. Wait until the beep." Very simple. One complaint: The black text on the red background is almost unreadable. Therefore I have to suggest getting a lighter color, unless they change the design. ... show more

so far so good
Color: Green Size: 1.1 cu ft Style: Modern Pattern Name: Microwave Oven
I've had my eye on this microwave for a while and after ordering one that was way too big for my space, I decided to go for it despite a small percentage of reviews that mentioned catching fire/turning on spontaneously. So far, this microwave works great. It has all the features I wanted: elevated buttons (my last microwave had a flat button panel and that's what wound up breaking), a clear start button, turn dial for time setting, a clock and timer function, and it looks great and matches my retro toaster. The handle is a manual one--no push button to open it but that hasn't been a big issue. I had originally ordered the 1.1 cubic foot/1000 watt model but received the .9 cubic foot/900 watt. Having previously had a 1000 watt microwave I don't see a big difference in heating time. Some things take a while but that's life with a small microwave and Amazon wound up refunding the price difference for me so it's fine. Love the color, rounded edges, and overall look. So far it's worked as expected without any unexpected issues and I hope it will continue to be so for a good long while. ... show more

The control panel malfunctions and can’t be fixed.
Color: Blue Size: .7 cu ft Style: Modern Pattern Name: Microwave Oven
I really like the look of the microwave, but the control panel is problematic. I bought the microwave last year, however it was in storage for a year while our home was being remodeled. I finally was able to use it in early July, but the control panel stopped working after only a month of use. Because I had owned it for over a year, it was past the one year warranty deadline. I called their customer service and they told me it would be too costly for me have it fixed. So, I chalked it up to back luck and purchased a replacement. Sadly, there was an immediate problem with the control panel of the new unit. The clock could not be set. Since I had set the timer on the first unit I purchased I knew it was a problem with the control panel. This microwave is great when it is working. Unfortunately, I have had problems with two of the units. ... show more

Nice Looking, But Less Than...
Color: Black Size: 1.1 cu ft Style: Modern Pattern Name: Microwave Oven
I bought it because of the look, color, price, and reviews. Now Amazon reviews, if a good sample size, generally give a pretty good indication of a given product's worth. Now, perhaps I received a one-off less than from Galanz, but I doubt that's completely sure...especially because of the price (which was cheap I admit). Even so, and while it does work "OK", I need to point out a few things that have kept my rating at three stars. First, it is loud by microwave standards with a "rat a tat tat" kind of sound when turned on. Yes, it does work but is relatively loud and annoying. Guessing it is the fan motor that is making this sound, but it could be something else. This just questions the quality (or quality control) of the manufacturer. Yes, I know it's relatively cheap, but still, this is something mechanical that will obviously wear faster than it should and not something cosmetic and harmless. The second and third issues I have are with the time selection for operating the different cooking features (completely subjective I know) and the way the unit operating as a microwave oven uses its power source (the magnetron) to heat the food. The timer is set by dial rotation which works well...but in 10-second increments. This is just a personal thing, but I don't like not being able to control the cooking time a little more precisely. Also, I know it's a cheap unit and does actually work, but not really all that well or consistently. It tends to be very target-focused at the center of the rotating plate and will at times overcook in the center and undercook the edges (of course this is food-dependent...as this is not an issue when heating just liquids for example). Bottom line...this microwave is just OK and nothing more (other than it being cute I suppose. However, it's just annoying enough that its looks and price are not going to save it. I'm going to bite the bullet and upgrade a bit (which is what I originally set out to do). ... show more
