This large automatic dog feeder was different than I expected. I really have to stop making assumptions based off the title of an item, because that usually leads to disappointment. That being said, I think the term automatic is misleading. This is less of an “automatic” feeder and more of a self-feeder. When the dog is unlatched, large dogs can push it open in order to reach their food. This method has its pros and cons. In my household, it is a con as I have two large dogs and one small dog. My small dog would not be able to open this door and, on the off chance she did, I would be so worried about it slamming shut and hurting her. The assembly was almost straightforward enough. The directions were easy to follow, but certain steps should have been more detailed. For example, I placed the first door on backwards and had to go back and redo it after inserting all the screws. Everything else was relatively simple. Once it was assembled, I was taken aback by how large it is, though truthfully I shouldn’t have been since it does clearly state it is a 60 pound dog feeder. My three dogs go through at least 15 pounds of dry food weekly, so I was happy to know I could buy food in bulk to satisfy their big appetites. The self-feeding option is concerning though because it doesn’t ration the food. One of my dogs will happily eat forever as long as the food is available, which isn’t good for his health. The material this feeder is crafted out of his very heavy-duty and durable. As it is branded as an outdoor feeder, I imagine it can withstand the elements pretty well though I personally would still shield it from rain out of an abundance of caution. I have not used mine outside and don’t plan to, but just in case you do there is some food for thought. Now I struggle with determining if this feeder is truly worth the price point as it just functions as a fancy dog food storage container for the most part. If this item actually had an automatic feature where it dispensed food into a bowl or something along those lines, then I would absolutely think it is worth it. It does not do that, though, so I still constantly find myself having to scoop the appropriate amount of food into my dogs’ three bowls as well as making sure the feeder is locked so they cannot overeat. The container is rather bulky, but there is a flat top that you can use as another storage space or place to keep dog bowls, etc. That is a minor detail, but still somewhat convenient.

I recently ordered this 60 lb large automatic dog feeder, and the first thing that struck me was the build quality and design. It’s very evident that a lot of thought was given to the design of this product, and it shows. It's constructed from aluminum-coated galvanized steel, which feels very sturdy and clearly built to last. It seems like it would hold up well whether you decide to place it indoors, out on a patio, or even directly in the dog pen. One of the best features is the viewing window on the front. It makes it very easy to see the food level at a glance, so there's no guessing involved when it comes to knowing if it's time for a top-off. The large capacity is also a huge plus, as it significantly reduces how often you have to go out and refill the container. The feeder stands at nearly 29" in height, providing a substantial presence. It also features a lockable door and strong magnets that help hold the door in place, which is great for keeping unwanted pests away from your dog's food. When you are initially filling it and getting used to the flow, I'd recommend checking the food every so often for any staleness or mold growth. Doing this will give you a better idea of how often you specifically need to refill it or exactly how much you can fill it while still keeping the food fresh for your fur friend. Unfortunately, I am going to have to return mine. It ended up being a bit larger than the specific space I had intended to put it in, so definitely double-check your measurements before ordering. Mom, it comes with glove and I highly recommend those when unboxing it due to the material that the feeder is made of exceptionally easy to set up, comes with instructions, and easy to use. Despite my space issues, I would still highly recommend this feeder if you have the room for it. It is a high-quality, durable piece of equipment that is quite affordable for its size and material. It’s a solid investment for any large breed owner looking for a heavy-duty feeding solution.

This feeder is a serious heavy-duty solution for anyone with large dogs and a desire to save a lot of time. It’s built from aluminum-coated galvanized steel, so it feels incredibly solid and durable—definitely tough enough to live outside on a patio or in a kennel without you worrying about it getting chewed up or worn down by the weather. The 60-pound capacity is a massive plus for buying in bulk, and the little viewing window on the front is convenient for checking food levels at a glance without having to mess with the lid. It’s important to know that while it’s called "automatic," it a gravity-fed self-feeder where the dog pushes the door open to eat. That's great for independent eaters, but if your dog doesn't know when to stop, you’ll probably find yourself keeping the door locked and using it as a fancy storage container instead. It stands nearly 30 inches tall and is quite bulky, so you’ll want to double-check your measurements before it arrives. Also, keep the included gloves handy for the unboxing—the metal edges can be a bit sharp during assembly, but once it’s together, it’s a rugged piece of equipment that should last for years.
