  • Nice and Compact with Pleasant Results.
Pretty good little flash. Compact, does not take up much room in your camera bag. Makes it light to travel with. Nice results. Can change flash output in increments of 1-100. Worth the money.

  • Tiny But Mighty Traveler
Alright...velvet pouch. Small. Sleek. That is what I thought when I first opened the pouch to see the G12 Mini Camera Flash. It felt like a travel accessory more than a traditional bulky flash. That's okay. It's great for me. Sometimes traveling light is nice. So, when travel happens - guess who's coming with me? G12 Mini Camera Flash Speedlite. Tiny, lightweight - but built solid, this traveler will give me the portability and function I need in a flash. This flash is compatible with my Canon camera. It has adjustable power level, so I can choose the lighting needed for what I am photographing. This G12 gives you the speed by sliding it into my Hot Shoe. It has no TTl, so the user will need to set it. The flash has the + and - to reduce the intensity of the flash. What else comes with the flash? Instructions, lampshade and the Type-C cable. Oh! We can't forget about that lovely pouch. I'm looking forward to bringing my travel buddy on my next adventure. ... show more

  • Perfect for basic flash needs
Exactly what I needed for the rare times I use flash. I don't shoot night-time events, but I do appreciate fill flash during the day when there are harsh shadow/light contrasts. A flash can really help smooth that out. One problem with any flash is the overkill, and I'll share here a little tip: get yourself a piece of gold-colored cellophane, cut a strip to match the width of the flash, and tape it on. It'll reduce that harsh white light to a much softer light. This product comes with a white frosted diffuser light, which is a really nice bonus, but I still prefer my gold cellophane hack. (I have not yet done this on my test shots, attached, but it really does help, trust me.) So this flash is great for those intermittent times that I need one. It arrived almost fully charged, and the instruction booklet was clear and useful. It screwed on to the top of my Canon R8 easily (don't over-tighten, because it can be difficult for your fingers to get purchase to unscrew it) Downside of not being a TTL flash: This is a manual flash; it won't work with your in-camera settings, so you'll need to play around more (thank god for digital). It's charged via a USB cable; much better than having to replace batteries, though obviously the rechargeable battery will eventually die You can reduce the intensity of the light with a touch of the + or - buttons on the flash. It doesn't have any tilt ability, which is a shame. Other than that, it's a great basic flash. If you are looking for a workhorse flash for night events, though, this is not the one. ... show more

  • A Pocketable Powerhouse: Simple, Manual, and USB-C
Full Disclosure: This product was received for free as part of the Vine Program. This G12 mini flash is a fantastic little tool for photographers looking for a specific, direct-flash aesthetic. It's incredibly small and lightweight, making it easy to carry in a pocket or a small camera bag without adding any noticeable bulk. The primary appeal here is the "paparazzi" or '90s point-and-shoot look it creates. The light is direct and on-axis, which is a fun and popular style for portraits and event photography. For a bit of softening, it conveniently includes a small diffuser cap that fits over the flash head. One of the best modern features is the built-in 1200mAh battery that charges via USB-C. It's a relief to not have to carry around spare AA batteries or an old micro-USB cable. A USB-C charging cable is included in the box. Crucial Point on Compatibility: This is a manual, single-contact flash. This means it will work on nearly any camera with a standard hot shoe (Canon, Sony, Fuji, etc.), but you must set the power level on the flash itself. The camera only tells it when to fire, not how bright to fire (no TTL). This is perfect for those who are comfortable with manual settings, but beginners expecting automatic flash exposure should be aware of this. With a Guide Number (GN) of 12, it's powerful enough for fill flash and portraits in dim conditions. ... show more

  • Wasn't impressed
Didn't work all the time. Maybe it takes too long to re charge but half my pictures were too dark. Sent it back.
