In fact, I really don't think it'd be all that desirable for typical automobile polishing as it's overkill (not to mention heavy). For that you'd probably fare better with a smaller and easier to control dual action polisher. However, this makes for a heck of a buffer! Where this would shine as a polisher would be maybe the side of van, boat, particularly someplace where the size and power is advantageous. And you can get sanding sheets for this and use it for even more aggressive polishing. I have actually used an inferior, but similar style 7” polisher to finish a concrete countertop: I used a squirt bottle to keep the action wet and frequently stopped to clear the surface with a rag. Worked really well – with just some sanding sheets I picked up at a discount tool store (the same place I bought the polisher I used). And this is certainly nicer with these great features: *) slow start *) speed control that compensates for load *) more powerful motor *) rubber bumper on the gear box I tested this G LAXIA polisher out on a chunk of old sidewalk, really laying into it, and it took a lot to noticeably slow it down, even at the lowest speed. So I'm impressed. (This is essentially the same as the Bauer model that you can get at Harbor Freight. Except this is nearly $30 less at the moment.)

Honestly can't complain much with the price tag. It works just fine and control is decent does what most any buffer does. Pads seem to be on the cheaper side which is fine overtime you'll find a pad that you like anyways so they'll do for now. Has variable speed control which is a big plus 600rpm-3500rpm so you can adjust accordingly to whether you're applying compound or finishing the surface off. It's definitely a brute to handle in terms of weight so prepare for an arm workout if you're not use to using a buffer. It's powerful as well so when you're in the higher rpm ranges be careful it can definitely send you to another atmosphere. All in all I'd say it's pretty good. Longevity is the best thing in question but it does appear decently built, all things considered. Buffing is a tedious and hard to grasp process but it's worthwhile in the end so do your research and grab one of these to practice with. so far quite happy with this tool and would gladly recommend.

I've been hand buffing, polishing, and waxing the Sea Scout's fiberglass sailboats for a couple of years. Finally stepped up to a power polisher to make the job easier. I tried a polisher similar to this a few years ago and it failed pretty quickly. This one feels a bit heavier-duty. I like that it came with the detachable polishing pads.

It is built well, durable, it has plenty of power. You can change the speed. I would recommend if you are looking for a detailer for your car. This one works great and gets the job done.
