  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Producto excelente
... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing accuracy and precision, still not sold on the interface
The accuracy and precision on this calculator is only surpassed by the SwissMicros calculators, which cost many, many times more than the fx-991CW. For simple trig functions, it doubles the number of significant digits it handles compared to any other calculator from Casio, Sharp, or TI. It also handles integrations and derivatives better than any non-CAS calculator from those vendors. The cleaner keypad is a mixed blessing. While it makes finding functions accessible using the keypad much easier, it also increases the number of functions that need to be accessed using a menu. My aging eyesight really makes me appreciate that the keypad is nowhere near as cluttered and busy as the fx-991EX, but needing to dive through a menu to get to commonly used things like integration and derivative can be irksome. The one thing that I was really hoping that Casio would have improved with the fx-991CW is the addition of persistent memory for statistical, matrix, and spreadsheet data. Unfortunately, this one feature that kept the fx-991EX from being the perfect calculator is still missing from the 991CW. If you are doing a lot of statistical work that requires gathering data in the field, you're still better off going with a Sharp. Overall, this is an incredible machine. It is a wonderful next step in the evolution of Casio's scientific calculators, and is a wonderful tool for anyone in middle school all the way through an engineering degree. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars You can now save speadsheets
Several things better, first QR code is much more visable and thus easier to scan, but hands down your now able to save much more work, like speadsheets and transfer to computer. I love you Casio but really, couldnt believe earlier version couldnt do that. Almost little reason all calculators should be 100 compatable w computers. And if teachers cant spend 2 minutes reading how to use Exam mode, well they should do pencill and paper anyway. ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars Processing power is faster then FX-991EX but you need more steps to get your results
A very simple calculation Calculate 9/6 and enter, it will show 3/2 But if you want to display 1 1/2 In FX-991EX and all other old calculators, simply press Shift and S-D In FX-991CW, press FORMAT, and then go down 3 times and select IMPROPER FRACTION I had put this calculator into the drawer already without using it. ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Casio messed up. Not for engineers anymore.
I am an electrical engineer and the 991EX was my go-to calculator during school. I passed both FE and PE exams using it as well. Here's why I think the 991CW has design flaws that make this calculator not suitable for engineers anymore: - They got rid of the ANGLE key(shift option): if you are an electrical engineer and rely on phasor notation, Casio just made your life harder. The easily accessible angle key is gone. To enter a phasor you will need to go through a menu option. - They got rid of the ENG key. The 991EX made it easy to toggle between 10ˆx powers (both positive and negative) using the ENG key. Now you can only do it using the FORMAT key, select engineering notation, and execute your calculation again. You gotta do this EVERY TIME. - Forget the amazing S>D key. Now you have to use the FORMAT key and go through a series of options to switch between standard and fraction notation. You will have to do this EVERY TIME. What were they thinking?! - Plus all the weird key placements - ANS is not next to EXE (or =). STORE and M+ keys gone as well. Summary: Keyboard is simpler, all functions are there (and better), but all important engineering functions are now hidden behind tedious menu options. No more toggle keys, resulting in a worse workflow/usability. It is clear that Casio bulged to school boards that pressured them to release a version of the 991 that has a cleaner and simpler keyboard, more suitable to middle and high school students. It is NOT a good calculator for engineering students anymore, especially for the ones taking very difficult timed exams such as the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE). I returned mine and will buy an extra 991EX as a backup. If you're studying to be an engineer, or are already practicing the profession, stay away of this CW model and get the EX. Casio, I hope you read this and release a a 991EX Version 2 if you wish to market the CW to middle/high school students. A super clean keyboard is NOT always the best option and engineers will appreciate it. ... show more
