  • Good lightweight option, give them time to break in!
Size: 14.5 Women/13 Men Color: All Black
I recently picked up these Furuian safety sneakers for yard work, and overall, I’m pleased. If you are looking for a heavy-duty leather boot, this isn't it, but for a breathable, athletic-style safety shoe, they do the job well. The Good: Very Lightweight: Unlike traditional work boots that feel like anchors on your feet, these are surprisingly light. They feel more like a standard pair of tennis shoes, which makes a big difference during a long shift. Breathability: The mesh upper allows for great airflow. My feet don’t feel nearly as overheated as they do in my older, heavier work shoes. Sleek Design: They actually look like normal sneakers. You can wear them into a store after work without it being obvious you’re wearing safety gear. Composite Toe: A quick note for those checking the specs—these actually feature a composite toe rather than a traditional steel toe. This is a plus for me as it keeps the weight down and doesn't get as cold in the winter, while still providing that "indestructible" feel for toe protection. The "Needs Improvement": Break-in Period: Don't expect these to be pillows right out of the box. The material is a bit stiff initially, and it took me about 4 or 5 days before they really started to flex and feel comfortable. I’d recommend wearing thicker socks during the first week. Insole Support: Since these are budget-friendly shoes, the stock insoles are pretty basic. If you are on your feet for 8+ hours on concrete, you might want to swap them out for a pair of gel inserts. Verdict: For a budget safety shoe, you really can't complain. They provide a nice balance of protection and style without the bulk. As long as you are patient with the initial break-in period, they are a fantastic alternative to more expensive work sneakers. Pros: Lightweight, breathable, great price. Cons: Stiff at first, basic arch support. ... show more

  • Reasonably priced, comfortable, lightweight steel toe anti-slip shoes.
Size: 12 Women/10.5 Men Color: All Black
These are interesting safety shoes. The steel toe meets ASTM standards yet it is extremely comfortable with plenty of room for your toes. I've worn steel toe shoes on and off since 1971 and many of them feel restrictive on your feet especially if they constrict your toes in anyway. I have a wide foot and often buy wide shoes but these shoes are wide enough that I feel comfortable in them with no constriction on my feet at all. That wideness along the sides of the shoes coupled with the free space that's inside the toe cap make the insides of these things pretty comfortable. They are surprisingly light weight, despite the steel toe, and are made of some kind of mesh in the uppers that allows your feet to breathe. The ethylene vinyl acetate sole provides a soft cushioning, however, it is also a firm enough material that it doesn't feel squishy in any way. It's hard to describe that feeling. With each step you can feel a cushioning affect as your heel comes down but it is not a squishy feel like you can with a lot of foam/crepe/etc., shoes. Just walking around in them you can feel that cushioning from your heel all the way through the sole up to your toes and it's a feeling that tells you you're not gonna feel real fatigued after a long day on your feet. I'm no expert on chemistry, but I'll tell you one thing: I like these ethylene vinyl acetate soles a lot. The soles are textured to be anti-slip, and I think that material they are made from also contributes to increased friction on the floor. The outside of the souls have lugs all the way around, which further prevents slipping. I am retired and are not often in environments where I need significant anti-slip or toe protection, but living on a rural property there are times when I'm processing wood and doing other tasks that could place my toes at risk, so these shoes are for safety as well as comfort. They clearly meet those two parameters well for me. They look really good, black uppers and black souls give it a business-like look. At a cost of $50 they are quite reasonable. Steel toe work shoes are typically much more expensive than that. ... show more

  • Comfortable compromise between tennis shoes and work boots. Make sure the sole is right for you.
Size: 13.5 Women/12 Men Color: All Black
These are "safety sneakers", durable casual footwear for places where athletic shoes don't offer enough protection but where full-blown work boots are unnecessary. They resemble tennis shoes in appearance and build, with two added features: an industry-rated reinforced steel toe, and a stiff, extra-thick rubbery-looking sole made of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. This shoe is designed to be as lightweight and comfortable as possible while offering a few protective features and it succeeds. I ordered size 12 and the shoes fit me perfectly, and I was able to adjust the laces, tongue, etc. to make them more comfortable. The shoes have an interesting feel when worn. They are feather-light and feel as comfortable as sneakers in most places, yet they feel like work boots at the ankle area. But to me they feel overall like wearing dress shoes, especially when walking, because of the stiff soles. There are pictures in the product listing of people hiking with them but I think that's a bit much, they are comfortable enough for me to wear for an 8 hour shift, but I'd be glad to remove them afterward. The steel toes in these shoes are industry-rated and offer great protection from falling objects, but the soles of these shoes are the most important factor to consider before purchase. The soles offer a degree of protection but they are not industry-certified against punctures or anything of the sort; they are lightweight to make the shoes lightweight. The soles are also advertised as being shock-absorbent and non-slip. The first claim is believable, but I'm not nearly as convinced of the second, and I'd recommend anyone specifically looking for non-slip shoes to examine these very carefully before buying. For me, these shoes are a great option for when I need something tougher than usual to wear, and I never really need work boots; I'd recommend these to others who are in a similar position. ... show more
