I needed some slim shelves to store purses on behind the clothing hanging in my closet. These were on sale at half price and fit my closet and budget perfectly. They are not super stable, but are moreso than I was given to believe when reading other reviews. If I was storing or displaying heavier items in a high traffic area, the included wall strap would certainly have been necessary. They look about like what you would expect for pressboard shelves. This isn’t heirloom furniture, but they look decent and get the job done. They were packed well, so no scratches or dings. The label stickers also came off easily without marring the finish like others had trouble with. I do really like the espresso color. It’s a nice dark black-brown. Also, some pressboard has a terrible chemical smell, but it wasn’t really noticeable on these. So yay! Putting it together took about 45 minutes and was relatively easy, even without help. Instructions were clear and concise. Pictures were labeled and helpful. The hardest part was screwing in the baseboard to the bottom shelf. The holes were marked, but not pre-drilled so it took me a while to screw them in with a screwdriver. My hand strength is pretty bad though. I think it took me 20 minutes just to do that step while keeping the boards lined up. Everything else was easy peasy (despite my cat doing her best to “help”). This is my second time ordering furnino bookcases. My first batch, the shorter style, ended up going into the closet for sweaters. I ordered the 6 shelf for small appliances and cookbooks, and ended up using it as a kitchen bookcase/open pantry. 1. The packing foam dust clung onto everything. It was snowing packing foam particles and clinging onto everything. 2. There were minor scrapes and chips on several pieces. 3. Some of the pieces were not marked. On the upside, and the reason for the 5 star review, the value, the physical manageability, and the ease of assembly understandability and assembly. The directions say 30 minutes with two people, and I believe it. It took me an hour and a half with luxurious ease by myself. Totally doable in an hour by yourself if you feel confident, you’ve got this!!! It is not a luxurious solid wood ancestral or legacy inheritable masterpiece. The mastery is the design of ease and value. I do think I’m going to touch up a few spots. But for the price, a tenth of its solid wood counterparts, I highly recommend it. Super easy in every way.     • Super flimsy not worth your time or money

I've never written a review before, but I felt the need to for this. First, I was impressed. It was heavy, and the materials looked and felt sturdy. I started building it, and everything was fine. I had the frame built and went to put the back panel on. This is where everything started to go downhill. I don't know what the back panel is made of, but it is trash. It was folded to fit in the box, and as I started to unfold it, a third of the panel started to rip along the fold. At first, I thought a little rip was manageable. But no, it got worse. The rip extended all the way down. When I tried to get the other half on, it also started to rip along the folds. I gave up on the back panel, which was disappointing because I know they help stabilize the bookcase. However, to be honest, there was no way that paper-thin panel was going to stabilize anything. So, I flipped it on its side as instructed. Even then, I noticed the top half was already super flimsy. When I stood it up, the whole top half just tilted to the side. It is unusable. Thankfully, the bottom half was more stable, so I was able to salvage that part and get at least half of the bookcase I ordered. I had been looking for a bookshelf for a very long time when I came across this one. I was so excited about the price and the way it looked that I didn't bother looking at the reviews (shame on me) before I ordered it. After the order was already processed and the thing had shipped, I found some of the reviews and was actually really scared. Everyone said that it was cheap and weak and wouldn't hold anything. Some even said it fell apart as they were trying to stand it up. Needless to say, I was a little worried. When the box showed up (2 days after it had originally be scheduled to be delivered) it was really beat up and torn in several places. I was worried that it had affected the pieces inside it was so bad. I don't know if that happened with UPS or what, but it was the worst condition I have ever had a package show up in. Thankfully, the pieces were unharmed and I started trying to put the thing together, only to realize, that the hardware was missing. I don't know if it was because the box was so damaged and it had fallen out or if it had just been packed without it, but I was kind of upset that I couldn't put it together. I contacted the Furinno customer support line on the instructions (which were practically in shreds by the way) via email and told them that the unit came without the hardware. I honestly expected to have to go out and buy the hardware myself, but I felt they should know in case it was a packaging issue on their end. I got an email back within an hour asking me the order number and the unit model number and they told me they would send the hardware out at no cost to me and apologized for the inconvenience. I got the hardware a few days later and was able to FINALLY put my shelf together, which was when the real worry began. As I was assembling it, I was really worried about it all falling apart like most of the reviews had said. But I was very surprised at how sturdy it actually was. It was easy to assemble and it actually works perfectly for what I need it to! I know it's bad, but I even tried rocking it a few times to see if any movement or slight bump (I have two kids who play in the playroom where my shelf is) would cause it to fall down. It didn't. I am actually very happy with this product and have attached a picture to show what it looks like put together with all my books on it. ... show more
