  • Another wonderful lens by Fuji
*: Black
This is an amazing lens. I had been waiting for this lens for a long time in that I was wanting one with 1:1 magnification. This one not only has that but is weatherproof, has OIS, is crazily sharp, and has very nice bokeh so that you can use this for a wide range of situations. I absolutely love this lens. The OIS gains at least 4 stops, if not 5, and this allows one to get very nice macro shots hand held which is very difficult in that when shooting that close up one usually needs to have the aperture fairly open and all motions are magnified. This lens can also be used for nice portrait photos with a very pretty bokeh although it is not as good as the 90mm lens for that but I have never used a lens which is. The only non-positive detail that I would mention is that if one if using the 1.4x teleconverter, the auto-focus is much slower. ... show more

  • Excellent macro and portrait
*: Black
I started photography with manual slr cameras and remember the genesis of autofocus and autometering. Since things went digital, it's just been like a sci-fi movie turning into reality, so perhaps I am already impressed with the performance capabilities of modern equipment in general. That said, I transitioned to Fuji from Nikon because A-my nikon gear was stolen and B-it reminded me so much of my beginning in the hobby. I was initially a little disappointed with the performance due to slow autofucus and learning a new ecosystem. Now that I have an XT2, some time with the system, and a few lenses, I am really quite impressed. This macro lens is everything you would expect it to be. Inherently crisp and contrasty images with a very reasonable autofocus speed and accuracy. To get this kind of image quality 20 or 30 years ago would have required equipment too expensive to even consider owning. Caveat, I'm not a pixel peeper or self proclaimed pro. I shoot for my own pleasure and for friends who ask. I haven't made a dime on photography since college. ... show more

  • Another fantastic lens from Fuji
*: Black
Another fantastic lens from Fuji. I have had several macro lenses over the years among which were the Tamron 90mm f2.8, Canon 50mm macro, and the fabulous Zeiss Touit 50mm f2.8 for Fuji. I still have and love the Zeiss, have used it for 3 years and got many great shots with it. I did some test shots in my backyard comparing the Zeiss and the Fuji and the Fuji is sharper and focuses much faster and more reliably than the Zeiss. So far I am very pleased with the color and micro contrast from the Fuji as well. I am very excited to use both lenses this spring and summer. Now if the darn wildflowers would just start blooming. ... show more

  • Heavy and shaky
*: Black
I wanted to love this because I e been using a cheap off brand macro that I can only shoot manual, but unfortunately this lens is heavy, it doesn’t fit snug on my camera, and autofocus is extremely slow. I shoot better pics with my 7 artisans which was less than $200

  • Very sharp...creamy bokeh
*: Black
I love this lens. I'm using it on both a Fuji X-T2 and a X-T3, and I've been *very* happy with the results I've been getting. I don't like to use a tripod, and thankfully this lens is optically stabilized. I had been using my 16mm 1.4 lens for close-up shots, but of course that lens is really best for wide angle landscape. The only drawback to this lens is that is is *very* heavy. This is not a lens I would carry around all day, for sure. But when I want to go out and shoot flowers or bees for a few hours, this is the lens for me! If you're a Fuji shooter, this is the macro lens to get! ... show more

  • Slooooow to focus, has a difficult time even in daylight to auto-focus.
*: Black
I generally use manual focus for macro photography. But fujifilm lenses are focus by wire. So... this is a frustrating lens to use. It takes excellent, sharp, low distortion (if any) photo's. But only if you can get the thing to focus. Wide open the thing is sharp, but the field of view is very shallow even if it only goes to 2.8. And I find that even the smallest movements, even with a tripod, are incredibly noticeable. I find myself chimping constantly to see focus, which throws focus a lot when you keep touching your camera. I really want to like this lens, but I likely will sell it to trade for something else later. I'm using it on an X-T4 body. ... show more

  • Incredible glass
*: Black
Absolutely amazing piece of kit. I have never shot macro before, but it was always something I've been interested in so I decided to spring for this lens during the sale. I took all three of the attached photos within the first 7 days of owning this. Produces incredibly sharp images, and an absolute joy to use and own. I'm just a novice photographer so I will leave the more technical reviews to others, but the images I've taken and the images others have taken using this lens speak for themselves. ... show more
