Features

  • TAKE COMPLETE CREATIVE CONTROL: Stay discreet and remain completely immersed in the moment with XF27mmF2.8 R WRs aperture ring, which lets you externally control your aperture, even when the camera is switched off. Not only does this feature ensure youre always ready to frame fleeting moments, but it also minimizes mistakes with a new aperture lock button to keep the ring locked into the A position when youre letting the camera do the work. Create with complete confidence with XF27mmF2.8 R WR at your side.
  • CREATE IN ANY CONDITION: With an extremely small and lightweight design, XF27mmF2.8 R WR is an ideal compact prime lens to carry at all times, just in case the perfect photo opportunity arises. Thats why it has been equipped with extensive weather-resistance and the ability to operate in temperatures as low as 14F (-10C). Regardless of where you are or what youre faced with, this lens is always ready to perform.
  • REACT IN A SPLIT SECOND: framing a fraction of a second is no easy task, so ensuring your lens is able to react as quickly as you can is a must. With a coreless DC motor that moves the whole lens group, XF27mmF2.8 R WR is capable of extremely fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus. When combined with a wide F2.8 aperture, it creates high-quality images with gorgeous background blur, even when the light is low. All this ensures that you dont just frame the moment, you frame it beautifully.
  • PROTECT BUT DONT PROHIBIT: Lens hoods play an important role in photography. By blocking stray light from hitting the lens at oblique angles, they help prevent flare and other forms of interference. They also offer valuable protection for the front element from inadvertent bumps that can happen while youre immersed in creating an image. The included dome-style hood is small, compact, and finds the perfect balance between practicality and performance by minimizing uneven flash coverage or obstructions to the field of view that can occur when using larger hoods.
  • PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE WITHIN REACH: On top of so many fantastic and new features, XF27mmF2.8 R WR is even more affordable than its predecessor, making high-quality prime photography more accessible than ever. Whether you are an enthusiast taking your first steps with a prime lens, a budding street photographer looking for discreet performance, or a seasoned pro who wants a fantastic everyday option, XF27mmF2.8 R WR is the clear choice.

  • Right in between the 23mm and 35mm...perfect
I have many Fujifilm lenses, including both the f/1.4 and f/2.0 versions of the 23mm and 35mm lenses, giving a full frame equivalent of 35mm and 50mm. Often, I'll go out with only one lens, and will mentally debate with myself on which to take. I can be productive with either, but I can over-annalize on which would be best. The 27mm is right in that middle ground sweet spot and if you are out in good light, it can do the job of either of the other two with a bit of up and back movement. The lens is petite, almost toy-like compared to my f/1.4 lenses but only in terms of size. The optics and functionality are up to Fujifilm standards. The addition of the aperture ring is what let me pull the trigger on this lens. I could not function without the ability to look down and set my f-stop for the scene before lifting the camera to compose, so the first generation was a non-starter for me. Additionally, they added a tiny lens hood for some physical protection as well as keeping stray light off the front element, but only for shallow angles. They include two caps, one spring loaded squeeze type for the lens alone, and a slip on type for going over the hood. One downside thing... the AF motor is the same first generation type from the original 27mm. It works fine on my X-T3, X-pro2 and X-E3, but there is audible sound. I never shoot video, ever, so I am not going to drop a star off the rating for this. If video is a big deal for you, this lens might not be the best choice. I am including a photo to show the size advantage on an X-pro2 next to a smaller X-E2s with a conventional lens. The size and performance will make this lens a key player for outdoor street and travel photography. I'm glad I bought it. Added edit March 29th: I have now taken this lens out on several real world excursions and have shot well over 1000 images. This use reinforces my initial testing results... this is a terrific lens! On my X-Pro2, this lens is like an extension of my eye. I just find myself in the right spot before lifting the camera. The results (sharpness, contrast, color, etc...) make me smile when I return and look at the images on a big screen. Absolutely no regrets on this purchase. ... show more

  • I married it.
I have four lenses for my Fujifilm camera, but this one rarely leaves the camera. It's my favourite focal length and I personally like the way it renders. It's an older Fuji lens so it is not the highest resolution, over lenses are much sharper, its autofocus is slow and iffy, but it has a ton of character. They say “date your camera, marry your lens” and in my case this is perfectly true with this lens. If you're shooting products are other studio work and want a tack-sharp lens, get a Sigma. If you want to make art and prefer an old school look, you'll absolutely love this lens. ... show more

  • GREAT, versatile lens!
Purchased this primarily for its compact size, but soon learned I prefer this focal length over my 23mm. The compact size, and slightly increased reach of this little lens has resulted in a LOT of time on my X Pro2 and XE-5. When shooting on the street, I just carry this, and my 16mm, either of which will fit in my pocket. Water resistance is an added bonus. I love this lens. ... show more

  • size, speed, image quality, weight: all green checks!
Excelent condition. im amazed about the lens sharpness! i has been doing some street shooting and i feel it perfect for it as it gives you the "wideness" enough for give context around the subject being photographed without being an ultra-wide (and without the distortion that involves). I like the pancake format as it do not attract a lot of attention vs a lens that is more than 1 hand long; which makes a difference at the final total weight (body+lens), as you can being holding the camera for more time without getting the wrist tired; at my previous tour i has been shooting with the XF23mm 1.4R and and difference is HUGE for holding it for more than 3 hours. it has a nice speed, vs the XF23 it is a tiny more loudy, but for real you will not even hear it at cities. ... show more

  • Great lens with some design-related limitations worth living with
I shoot with a Fujifilm XT5 and in this focal length range had the 23mm f/2, which I ended up selling when I got this lens. Yes it's slower but its size absolutely makes up for that since it transforms a body like the XT5 into a really small package-- Really the difference between grabbing it on the way out the door for a possible shooting opportunity or leaving it home. Reviews about the noisy autofocus are correct, and it will give a little sound when the camera is turned on and of course when it's autofocusing, especially in low light. I usually put a B&W clear filter on my lenses but if you're buying this I wouldn't jump to thinking you'll need a protective filter right off the bat. The outer element is small and with the small included lens hood it seems pretty protected. I'm just shooting with the lens hood in place. Recommended. ... show more

  • Compact 40mm equivalent pancake lens perfect for traveling light
I bought this lens for my XT-4 Fuji camera after reading several reviews. I wanted a small lightweight lens for travel and street photography when I don’t want to carry a lot of gear. I like the 40mm equivalent focal length and the f2.8 aperture. The lens sharpness is fine. Some people complain the auto focus is slow, but I haven’t noticed this. However, I haven’t tried to shoot fast action. Overall very pleased and it does what I wanted it for. ... show more

  • My everyday delight
I had the original version of this lens. The first generation didn't have an aperture ring. I managed to destroy its focus motor by using the wrong lens cap, a screw in metal type. I finally decided to spring for a replacement, and haven't regretted that decision for a minute. This may not be the most lauded Fuji lens ever, but its format is an important element of why I love it so much. For me, not a pixel peeper, it's tack sharp, has great contrast, fast AF, everything I really need. But it wouldn't play such an important role in my photographic life if it wasn't so tiny! It makes a huge difference to be able to pocket the entire camera. My next bigger lens, in terms of form factor, is the 35mm f2, and I use that one a lot. But the 27mm is the starting point. For street photography, the focal length is perfect for me, and it doesn't look intimidating, so people are more likely to see you as a harmless tourist. Unfortunately, it seems to take them forever to get these shipped these days. I had to wait for my copy for many months. ... show more

  • Nice Lens but over priced in my opinion
I do really like this lens, but I took a star for being overpriced. The tried both TTartisan 27mm f/2.8 AF lens and this one. This lens has more pop and more reliable (consitantly good) image quality. Has nice contrast, color, and sharpness. While I think TTartisan is amazing value, it's not as good as Fuji lens. As for Fujifilm 27mm f/2.8 R WR, it's Fuji's most compact lens. As a pancake lens, it makes more Fujifilm cameras jacket pocketable. It has good image quality with good contrast, color, and sharpness. Very fun lens to use as well. Added aperture ring is good as well as weather sealing on this new version, but I read that image quality is same as the older version and AF is still loud compared to most of the new lenses for Fuji. If you don't need the aperture ring and or weather sealing, older version can be better value. Besides, many of the compact Fujifilm camera like X-E4 series and X-T50 series are not weather resistant so WR of the newer lens is useless on those cameras which this lens would be perfect for. While I think 27mm f/2.8 lens is great, it is a bit over priced at $400 for f/2.8 prime lens and less common 40mm equivalent focal length imho. Wish it was at least f/2 lens with AF motor that is on 23mm f/2 WR or 35mm f/2 WR lenses at current asking price. I personally got XF 18mm f/2 R instead for wider 27mm (more versatile IMHO) equivalent focal length, f/2 max aperture, and only slightly thicker pancake lens without the hood. ... show more
