Description

FUJINON XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II Lens brings resolving power for high- resolution imaging sensors and is the perfect hybrid lens for photographers and videographers. Packing immense creative potential into an updated, lightweight 410g (0.90 lbs) design, XF16-55mmF2.8 II is about 37% smaller than its predecessor, thanks to refinements to its optical design. Its fast, constant F2.8 aperture excels in low-light conditions, while the super extra- low dispersion (ED), aspherical lens elements, and 11-blade iris combine to deliver cinematic shallow depth-of-field for both photos and video alike. A near-silent linear AF motor, smooth aperture control option, and weather resistance round out the compelling reasons that make this the perfect lens to start any creative adventure. Requires firmware update of applicable X Series body. New features available in Movie mode when using Manual Exposure mode and a fixed ISO.

  • I Love This Lens!
Set name: Lens Only
Fantastic lens! I do not own the first version, so can't compare. I can only say that this lens is perfect for my needs as a professional event photographer/videographer. Great size and weight. Very sharp. Snappy auto focus. Smooth zoom. I like the unclickable f-stops, which helps when shooting video. My only complaint is the lens hood. It fits loosely and falls off. Useless. ... show more

  • A great improvement over the original
Set name: Lens Only
I have owned the Mk1 version of the 16-55 and I thought they could never improve on the old one, but I was wrong. This Mk2 version is just as sharp, if not sharper, has higher magnification at MFD, and best of all - it is very light and small! It's truly a feat of optical design that Fuji managed to make it better AND smaller. The zoom ring was tight at first, but has gotten smoother after 2 weeks of use. One thing that most reviewers fail to mention is that at minimum focus distance, this lens is sharper than the old one and has less aberrations that it can almost double as a pseudo macro lens. The attached photo is at 55mm at MFD. Look at how detailed it is with tons of microcontrast. Overall, I am very happy with this lens and it will stay with me for a long time. ... show more

  • A zoom lens with the image quality of primes
Set name: Lens Only
This lens is often described as having a box of primes and I think that's warranted. It's not cheap, but it delivers on build quality, image quality and versatility. The mark II is about the same size and weight as the 16-80 f/4 which makes it small enough to carry every day.

  • Good lens poor handling for delivery
Set name: Lens Only
I prefer this the the previous model I still own. I love how light it feels and the optical quality is what you expect from Fuji. Amazon delivery is another story. For one, the driver tossed the package slightly to the ground, and second there was no protective material to protect the lens from jolts and knocks during transit. If you want your pricey equipment to be handled correctly and with the TLC to ensure a trouble free delivery, go with B&H. ... show more

  • Not new condition
Set name: Lens Only
The box comes with stains. The lens is covered with some dusts. I can see light scratches on the front lens cap, back lens cap and even on the body. Dusts is found inside the lens. All of these suggest that this is not a new product. It is more like an open box product, or a returned product from someone else. None of this affects the image quality but if I spend this amount of money on such a premium lens, I expect it comes in a better condition. I do not know if this is a defective lens or not, but the zoom ring is loose, the aperture is loose and the focus ring is also loose. A bit disappointing. The good thing is it is light and small. You can pair this with the x-m5. ... show more

  • A $1,400.00 "Kit" lens.
Set name: Lens Only
While I agree that this lens is sharp, light, and fast, it falls well short of what I would consider a professional offering. If this lens had been my first, instead of my 4th lens in the system, comparing its build quality to my Canon 24–105mm f/4 L-series lens, I seriously doubt I would have switched systems and invested thousands of dollars in Fujifilm gear. In terms of construction, this feels far closer to a kit lens than to anything carrying a “professional” price tag. I was willing to overlook the flimsy feel, assuming performance would make up for it—and initially, it did. Unfortunately, that confidence ended when the focus ring literally came off in my hand after just three months of normal use. If critical components are glued rather than mechanically secured, this is the predictable result. Now I’m another $50 in, to send in a nearly new lens in for service. I will update this review with Fujifilm’s response time and resolution. Word to the wise: if you’re expecting build quality comparable to Canon L or Sony G-series lenses, this lens will not meet those expectations. What makes this more frustrating is that Fujifilm can build exceptional lenses. The 50–140mm f/2.8 is beautifully constructed and feels like a true professional tool. The question is: where is that same level of quality in the staple standard zoom range? Unfortunately, this lens is not it. ... show more

  • Great Red Badge Fujifilm Lenses
Set name: Lens Only
I love how lightweight it is on my XT-50. It's literally like have 4 f2.8 prime lenses combined into one, lightweight zoom lens. The photos come out super sharp and the autofocus is really fast. I took it to Disneyland and was able to capture some awesome shots of friends and family. I haven't taken it off my camera since I received it. The zoom barrel is a bit stiff towards the higher range but I’m guessing it’ll smoothen out a bit over time. ... show more
