Description

The X-E3 features APS-C 24.3 megapixel X-Trans CMOS III sensor and the X-Processor Pro high-speed image processing engine. The X-E3 is the first X Series model to feature Bluetooth technology. You can pair the camera with your smartphone or tablet device for easy transfer of pictures taken using minimal power. An all-new “Touch Function” feature is available on the X-E3, which enables gesture control like flick and pinch zoom. The AF algorithm optimizes the camera’s performance with tracking moving subjects. great little camera, paired with the zoom lens (18-55, F2.8-4) provides perfect package for most situations. Well built, it feels like quality when holding it in hands..It's a pleasure to just hold it and look at it..lol..I love the small and sleek look of this camera, while it still has some weight (with the lens) giving you a feeling of good sturdy high quality product...if you attach a pancake lens (like the 27mm F2.8), you will have very small package, close to the 100F. Picture quality through the kit zoom lens is amazing...OIS is great, allowing handholding at lower shutter speeds. It actually amazes me how good and versatile this zoom lens (18-55, F2.8-4) is. Having range finder style is way to go, if you are right eye dominant (most people), as your nose wont hit the screen and the EVF sensor will work perfectly., And then there is the joystick for focusing points, which is soooo much better than the D-PAD on most of the other Fujis...Its faster, more accurate and just much better. and talking about no D-Pad, by not having it you have more space for your thumb, which again improves your grip!! The right front is nicely rubberized, so great for the grip again. Tiltable screen isnt available on the X-E3 but thats something I can live with. One disappointment is the promoted bluetooth....Fujifilm marketed it as something that this camera has, giving it something that the other models dont have. Well, unfortunately you still have to hook to the wifi if you want to transfer pictures...so not really sure, why the bluetooth is even part of this package. I wonder, if they will fix it via future firmware updates. But again, thats not a deal breaker for me, as I transfer pics via USB cable anyway. ... show more

I was looking for a small "travel camera" to take on trips and such instead of my Canon full-frame DSLR equipment. Wanted a body with good resolution, especially in low light, so had to be at least APS-C sensor. Also needed to have viewfinder and either body or lens image stabilization. The X-E3 fit the bill perfectly. After using and testing the camera, I was amazed by the image quality! In most cases on par with my DSLR and Canon lenses. The only negative so far is moving and locking the exposure box on the touchscreen. Had to turn this feature off as I kept inadvertently moving the focus location, especially when using the viewfinder. Otherwise, I am very please with this camera to the point that I will be purchasing additional Fuji X-mount lens. ... show more

If you are like me with a combination eye sight not being what it was, and being used to having more simple control over a camera, this camera is perfect. I used to work as a company photographer in the eighties, but burned out and never really touched a camera for many years. Then cameras went all digital control, which I really struggle with (having to use strong cheater glasses compounds the problem). This camera is like the old days, only much, much better. There are many high quality, low cost manual focus lenses that are very easy to use for old schoolers, and the peaking highlights focusing is better than any old rangefinder that I used in the past. ... show more

My first step into Fuji. What a great, small, powerful camera. Film simulations are great Camera is small and compact, easy to grab and go Touch screen works great, just turn off the feature where it lets you shoot by tapping the screen and it will save you some headaches Starting to use for video as well and it’s looking good.     • Great camera with a few caveats

Overall, I really like this camera. Pros: 1. Fuji lenses. It's not the camera, but a good body doesn't get you much if the lens lineup sucks. I had a Sony NEX-6 before the X-E3 and this was certainly true of the E-mount system. 2. Intuitive controls. Once you get the camera set up the way you want, shooting is very natural and just plain fun. In contrast, the NEX-6 and its menu system is abysmal. 3. The joystick. It's so easy to pick your focus point. Resizing the focus box is a breeze when you set the camera to "All" in the focus settings. 4. Bluetooth connection. It's not perfect and still has hiccups, but I can get it to work with enough patience and then upload to family/friends with phone. I'm hoping Fuji updates this app to make connecting easier. 5. Cool retro looks. I'm all about function over form, but I'll admit that this is a spiffy camera. Cons: 1. No tilt screen. I miss this more than I thought I would, especially when taking pictures of kids and animals. 2. Post processing. I used to use Lightroom 5.7.1 alone with my Sony, but after doing comparisons using Iridient and Adobe DNG converter, Iridient is a hands-down win. This makes post-processing more difficult, having to bounce between programs. I review jpegs in Lightroom, pick the ones I like, then convert the .RAF files to .DNG using Iridient, then import into Lightroom for editing. Ugh. 3. Waxy skin/eyes/fingernails. Yes, it is there, but unless you zoom in or crop a lot, it should be fine. Still, I wish I wouldn't have to worry about this at all. ... show more

I've always had an above average interest in photography. Once departing chemical for the digital variety, I found the convenience of instant viewing of my images an attractive bonus. At the time of departure I invested in a SLR set-up that was kin to my 35mm film version I was used to dealing with. It provided good images, but the bulkiness and complexity caused me to forgo it for a point-and-shoot (with advanced features) the majority of the time. This has bridged the gap remarkably. It is effortless to handle but feels sturdy and well made like my entry level Pentax film camera. The optics are above grade for a general purpose unit and the shutter function flawless. It gives you full manual control if wanted, and I've even found myself enjoying the special effect filtering to create some abstract shots (my favorite type). All in all, this has brought the JOY back to me and urges me to be a bit creative. Really am glad for this purchase. ... show more

I am a retired commercial photographer with 45 years of studio experience. Was looking for a small camera, but after using the best pro cameras it was hard to find one I could live with. The first digital camera I purchased was well into my career, three of them at $52,000 each. My time with this camera is short but I am in love so far. Files seem to be of a high enough quality to make me happy and I fine it a pleasure to use. Don't ask me about the buttons and programs, I just don't use them. Overall feel takes me back to my first camera, a pre-war Leica. The only negative is that I wish it came with a cable to down load files, the card is too small for my fingers. Very good pictures but human interface absolutely terrible, probably nothing worse. If you just leave it on auto, and use it you may be okay (assuming you dont accidently touch ANYTHING, as you can inadvertently change settings rather easily). If you are willing to play with the camera a lot, can decipher the criptic and uninformative manual, and then use the camera almost daily, you will really like this camera. If you want to use its many functions but aren’t going to use it extremely frequently, this camera will be pure frustration. The settings are hard to find, the manual not much help, some settings will lock out other settings for no discernable reason, and with no warning, nor explanation it happened. Therefore you cannot figure out why some things are locked out and the manual is usually no help. And to make the manual even minimally useful you need the electronic version so you can search as the manual layout and table of contents is poor. It’s very frustrating as the command structure could be so much better at essentially no cost, they simply need a good human factors engineer to help the programers. It’s too bad as Fuji cameras and lenses are world class in terms of capability, but some of the worst available in terms of useability. ... show more
