For a starter quad it's pretty awesome. I couldn't get my 8 year old off of it lol. He did fall off it twice, uninjured because of all the protective gear he had on. The safety shut off worked both times. I'd say the max speed was around 10 MPH. Maybe slightly faster. I would say though, it may be a little small for an 8 year old. Mine weighs in around 70 lbs and a hair over 4 ft tall. Just seems like that's as big as I'd go for this quad. He just seemed on the edge of making it top heavy and unstable. So anybody younger would work well on this for a starter quad. ... show more

Overall, this machine will do. It starts and runs almost. Primer bulb assists with starting. Choke seems a little unclear if it’s open or closed. I think it’s running with choke closed, when open it dies… but, diagram might not be correct. Pull rope assembly came loose within the first two weeks. Cord got wrapped around crank. Ordered another for $20, put loctite on bolts. Parts were easy to find on their web site, arrived very quickly. It’s not a Honda but it’s perfect for my 6 year old that is learning to ride. Bought this for my 4 year old granddaughter.... She's in love with it! It is big enough for her to grow into, was super easy to finish putting together. Would recommend turning the throttle down for young riders, which allows them to enjoy it while learning good riding habits. As she gets older and develops her skills, I can adjust the throttle governor to allow her to go faster. Arrived intact in the box, well packaged.
