We have a large old house with an open downstairs layout. For years, we have had one large room air conditioner and then used large fans to pull the air to other parts of the downstairs, but this never cooled off the kitchen which is 2 large rooms away. So when Prime Days came around, we took advantage of a great deal to purchase this quality product and put it in the window nearest to the other parts of the downstairs. This was a particularly scorching summer at times and our old methods weren't cooling off the downstairs well enough during those extreme heat warning stints. This air conditioner is ridiculously easy to set up (actually made me realize how I put the one in my bedroom together incorrectly, without looking at the directions) and wasn't too heavy to lift up to put into a 6-foot high kitchen window--even for this person with a bad back. The unit fits 95% perfectly into the window and the old, uneven windows of our 140-year-old home likely are to blame for that. The noise is truly minimal for what it does. And the remote control is very simple and easy for my senior mother to use, instead of having to use the buttons on the unit. I love that it is eco friendly and that it won't use expensive energy when we don't need it. Lastly, I will say that I am sure it will work beyond great if you use it for just one closed-off room. However, people like us who need to cool off more than that area, I can say that it does cool strong enough that you can use a fan to pull the air to another room. Since adding this conditioner to the kitchen, the downstairs has been overall very pleasant despite the latest extreme heat stint. And I'm not overly concerned about the next electric bill as I know it helped use other forms of cooling less overall. We purchased this under a great deal but I would say it is well worth the expense and future savings for you to buy it at full price! ... show more

UPDATE: We've had this ac for a month. It does all I have said. It really keeps our home comfortable. It's still well. It was easy to install. Functionality? Let me tell you about this ac. with heat. The unit delivers cold as ice air when you want it. It can be set to whatever temp you desire and it doesn't fail you. Our home stays comfortable. Not too cold or too hot. Just right. If needed, it can be set to another temp. Doesn't make a lot of noise. Cuts off automatically at the set temp. We are Loving this ac. The air flows nicely across the room. This is a Beast of an ac. Did I say it's nice to feel comfortable and not too cold or too hot. I guess I did :D We bought the 23,500 btu unit. You have to try this product. You won't regret it. Remote works good too. We tried the heat and the cool air. They both work great. Thank you for such a great product and working to making it easier to pay for. I was gonna share a video, but we're remodeling our dining area where we put the ac and I need to paint. It looks good sitting there. Doesn't look like an eye sore. ... show more

    • Good features but not so quiet.

I have some mixed feelings about this air conditioner. One of the things was that I was encouraged to purchase side curtains for the unit when I was ordering the unit. To my surprise when I opened the box that the air conditioner came in there were side curtains in it. I had not ordered any. So you might want to see what you get before you order additional stuff. Installation was pretty straightforward though the booklet leaves out a lot. Just use your common sense and you'll generally be fine. It never does mention the attachment of the top rail to the air conditioner but it shows a picture of it already having been done. For those of you concerned about window width it does take 23 in as a minimum to use both side curtains. If you're handy with a hacksaw you can alter that a little bit and make that a little narrower. Or you can remove one of the side curtains entirely to squeeze into a narrow window. As far as some of the other comments I have read I think noise is the most important. The compressor is very quiet. The fan is not. Even on the low setting it is as loud as my old air conditioner fan was on high. I'm guessing it does not have a squirrel cage fan which is usually quieter. I don't know that as a fact, but the fan noise is quite noticeable. I do like the efficiency of the air conditioner. There are some nice features built in. There is a remote control which can also function as a thermostat. It was an excellent value for the price but I do wish it were quieter on low. ... show more

    • EXCELLENT Large Wall/Window Unit with Heat!

So far this unit has worked well. The heat pump is amazing and works super well as does the a/c cooling aspect. It replaced a 30 year old 220V unit which finally failed - hoping this 230V unit lasts me 20 years! Shipping was the only issue - the carrier must have dropped it once and it cracked the outer housing and dented it up. Internals seem unharmed and working great so far. Amazon issued a partial refund for the damaged - courier otherwise was less than ideal when it finally arrived. Great value for a wall or window install solution! ... show more
