  • Wonderfully Helpful Book
I have been a plant based person for 5 years so I'm used to prepping ahead of time, however this book gave me the greatest tips I could possibly have. I read it from cover to cover. I am proud to say my refrigerator is well stocked, is very organized, and looks the best it ever has. I work out of my home and the time it has saved me to stop and have a quick lunch with these glass Jar salads has been amazing. I have tried so many recipes with tofu and I just can't get a handle on the taste, but the tofu taco salad and how to prepare the tofu was delicious. I will be using this in so many other recipes. I thank the author for this wonderful book. I have so many vegan plant based cookbooks but this has become one of my very favorites. I bought it purposely for organization, but it's much more than that. I love this book and I would encourage anyone whether they are plant based or not to purchase it strictly for organization and meal prep. ... show more

  • Very detailed
I love this book. The information is detailed and comprehensive. It’s as if the author has direct experience using all the types of fridges referenced in the book. My favorite aspect is the pages of advice on how to store produce to maximize freshness and storage time. This book is paperback but good quality. And illustrations are well done. I would recommend purchase. ... show more

If you're looking for a practical guide to organizing your fridge and eating healthier, then Kristen Hong's book is a must-read. Her approach to fridge organization, which she calls "fridge love," is both inspiring and actionable. Not only does she provide useful tips for storing and prepping food, but she also shares over 100 plant-based recipes that are perfect for meal prep. As someone who has struggled with healthy eating and food waste, I found this book to be a game-changer. The tips on fridge organization were easy to follow, and I loved the shopping and storage guidelines that helped me make the most of my food. Plus, the recipes were delicious and simple to make. I particularly loved the plant-based meal prep ideas, which made it easy to eat well even on busy days. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to eat better, save money, and reduce food waste. Kristen Hong's approach to fridge organization and meal prep is practical, inspiring, and accessible to everyone, regardless of their diet or lifestyle. • This book changed my life and is allowing me to help others change theirs!
If you have been struggling with meal prepping, eating more plant-based/whole foods, or choosing to eat the food in your fridge rather than ordering out all the time, BUY THIS BOOK. For the last decade I have wasted so much food (produce, specifically) bc I didn't know how to properly store it to maximize its shelf life. So in the fridge it sat, in the bag/packaging it came in from the store, lonely until it died and I inevitably had to throw it out. I would eventually turn to Youtube to search "how to wash and store ______" FOR EVERY ITEM OF PRODUCE I bought to figure out what I was doing wrong and how to make it last longer, but doing this for every item every week was.... exhausting. I tire of having the same foods every day/week so I needed variance, but I eventually dreaded this process so much that I would still buy the groceries to feel like I was doing the "right" things but felt too overwhelmed to actually do anything with the food once I got home, thus, wasting more food just to repeat the cycle the following week in the name of "I'll do better next week!" Then this year, enter Fridge Love. When I say that this book changed my life, I really, really mean it. It takes ALL THE GUESS WORK, all the youtubing/googling out of the equation. No more searching online for the best ways to prepare food for max shelf life; now I get to just turn to the appropriate page in the glossary to tell me exactly when and how to wash the food in question, what type of container it needs to be in, exactly how long it will last, and page numbers of recipes in the book that use these items. Like what!? This is supremely helpful on its own and is worth more than the price of the book alone, but it also just helped me holistically understand how to best take care of my fridge in order to improve the shelf life, inclusive of what types of containers are best to use (and I'm talking specific recommendations, down to the sizes of jars/containers to use and where to buy them the cheapest), how often you should clean out your fridge, and how the humidity levels in your direct environment dictate a lot about how long your food may last! There is also a lot of great health information throughout the book where she explains why certain recipes/ingredients are healthier than store-bought alternatives and gives tangible, easy-to-understand language to explain how those differences affect our health. She is also very inclusive in her language, being sure to remind folks in recipes where it would be ok to use a store-bought, dairy, or otherwise animal product substitute for a plant-based option she provides in her recipes. Her inclusivity is also felt in her insistance that readers challenge themselves to begin this journey with exactly what they have access to now, rather than encouraging folks to go buy new glass containers for this all to work, AND emphasizes folks to start small. She advised to cnsistently prep breakfast for a few weeks before you build onto something else. Taking the time to write these recommendations of essentially starting this process thru baby steps is so crucial and I'm sure is a great help for more than just me bc that lets her meet us where we are!!! She does a great job making this lifestyle feel accessible to folks in varying positions in life and I was personally really grateful for these efforts. I'll conclude by saying the pictures I attached are my recent prioritizations from reading this book. I am personally working on maintaining (and eating!!!) a weekly in-fridge salad bar, and you'll see photos attached of that with some other prepped foods like overnight oats, cooked grains, fridge pickles, and steamed veggies. All recommendations/recipes from her book! I'm also an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and I've made this book a staple part of my coaching program for existing and new clients. I give it as a gift to hopefully give my clients a huge leg up in building these new routines for themselves, as this book is a great resource to literally always have nearby when just starting out with healthy meal prepping. I hope you buy this book and hope it changes your life and approach to food, too! Happy meal prepping! ... show more
