  • product looks good, PACKAGING is LETHAL !
Style: 3/16-Inch Diameter by 1/2-Inch Double Fl...
first, the router bit looks well constructed. BUT, see images. I've worked wth tools, including ROUTERS, for many years. I KNOW they can be sharp. I KNOW to be carefule when handling. BUT, this PACKAGING is HORRENDOUS. I opened the protective cover. I grasped gently the BASE of router bit. I tried to loosen it from the plastic base. it was STUCK, so I tried twisting it. STILL stuck. I then tugged a little more, and since the router bit was very smooth, my fingers slipped upward, along the blades ! DISASTER ! This almost becamr a trip to the emergency room, it cut both my index finger and thumb. My trusty workshop repair kit of duct tape and paper towels did stop the bleeding, and I then returned to the router bit to try and get it out. it took PLIERS, and I did not want to SCRATCH te router bit, so was very careful, it STILL took tremendous effort t remove this. If freud replies to this rweview, I may change my rating from one star, because the bit itself looks well constructed and balanced (I have NOT used it yet) (I bought it to make small channels for some hardboard shelving, to glue into vertical upright boards for some workshop storage design) ... show more

  • Worked great, and cuts perfectly.
Style: 1/16-Inch Diameter by 1/4-Inch Double Fl...
Received the bit and wasted no time putting it through its paces on my MPCNC. I am using a DeWalt 660 as a spindle and tested with a super conservative 8MM/s since I didn't want to snap the 1/16" version I bought. If I had to use one word it would be WWWWOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!! Not only did it cut cleanly, it didn't flinch. I am sure I can up the feed rate next time I use it but for now it was money very well spent. This is my first Freud bit as I usually buy Amana but they don't have a 1/16". Freud might have just won themselves a new customer and keep up the great work! P.s. the packaging didn't try to kill me so I considered it 5 star worthy. :) ... show more

  • Excellent quality bit
Style: 1/16-Inch Diameter by 1/4-Inch Double Fl...
I have over the years purchased now several of these bits for use with my CNC machine. They are extremely well made, sharp, and long lasting. I have used them in a variety of hardwoods, but mostly cherry, maple and walnut. I find that Cherry holds the best fine details with this bit but I believe that is a function of the wood moreso than the bit itself. Attached is a photo of a very detailed tank carving where the bit really excelled. The only issue I have had with the bit has truly been operator error where I have addentally run the bit into a hold down screw or moved the router without the bit spinning and knocked off the cutting tip by accident. Other than that, I have never had this bit fail during a proper cutting procedure which I feel is extremely impressive considering it’s 1/16” diameter. I would highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Great Bit, Be Careful when Unpackaging
Style: 3/16-Inch Diameter by 1/2-Inch Double Fl...
This is high quality router bit, like all the Freud bits I have. One caution: It is hard to remove the bit from its mount in the plastic box. The package has a very strong grip on the bit's shank. If you grab the bit with your fingers and pull hard in attempt to remove it, you can slice your finger badly on this very sharp bit (ask me how I know). I recommend using pliers to pull the bit out. ... show more

  • A great precision router bit.
Style: 15/32-Inch Diameter by 1-1/2-Inch Double...
Sharp, durable and precise. This is the first time I used my new DeWALT plunge router. I wanted to make a tool holder for a sander with shelves to hold sandpaper discs. Using 1/2” plywood for shelves, the bit cut precise 15/32” dados. The fit and finish would have been flawless if I had used decent wood. The dados were far too good for the cheap plywood used. I will use this bit for lots of projects, but will never use it for substandard material again. Lesson learned. ... show more

  • Excellent Bit
Style: 3/32-Inch Diameter by 3/8-Inch Double Fl...
I ordered this bit for a defined purpose, namely, setting commonly-available sheet glass from a big-box store into the oak sides of a display case my father and I have been constructing to house some of his scale models. This was the fifth case we had built, and up to this point we had been using a .125" single-flute bit (the only thing available in town near correct size) and just putting up with the large amount of play between the glass thickness and the groove width. Shims were required to prevent rattle when the case was assembled, and we wished to avoid that on the fifth case. I was somewhat apprehensive when I ordered this bit, the intended groove depth was very nearly the full depth of the cutter (3/8"), and as a multiple of cutter diameter is fully 4D deep. That seemed quite extreme to me, and I was very worried about the bit's durability in use. As it turns out, my concerns were entirely unfounded. This solid-carbide, Freud Industrial bit sliced through the oak like BUTTER. I made my deepest cuts in two passes, approximately 3/16" deep per pass, and I could hardly even feel the bit in the cut, the action was so smooth. The case required a finished length of 176" of cut, about a quarter of that 3/8" deep, and the rest about 1/4" deep. At the end of the project, inspection under a 30X scope showed no sign of damage to the bit what-so-ever. Tips were still crisp, edges were still sharp, no sign of heating, etc. This bit will be good for many more uses. I will definitely be looking at the Freud line of bits additionally, this one performed far above even my most optimistic predictions. ... show more

  • Sharper and better price than big-box store
Style: 1/2-Inch Diameter by 3/4-Inch Double Flu...
It's a Freud that meets all expectations you'd expect from the brand. I needed a 3/4" long straight bit in a pinch, so went to my local big-box store. They only had their in-house brand available - every single one I saw had small burrs or material defects. The price was about $1-2 more expensive then the $14 I paid for this bit. I decided to wait a few days to receive this bit - and am incredibly happy! Super clean cuts, very accurate dimensions. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
Style: 3/4-Inch Diameter by 3/4-Inch Double Flu...
Purchased the 3/4 bit size to rout a channel in the side of a door frame to install an indoor locking mechanism. I had very little room to play and this router bit did an excellent job removing the material without kickback. Due to the bit size, I did have to run the router at a higher speed and did several passes to get desired depth. Much better and cleaner than the cheapo ones they sell on Amazon. ... show more
