Decent suction. If using just to empty the aquarium it would be fine. But if you want to clean the gravel the end piece is too narrow. It sucks up the gravel and all the gravel just gets stuck in the end piece. The end piece needs to be wider so it will toss the gravel without actually sucking it all the way up.

I like the idea and the product does seem to be well made, but sand/plant material clog the filters so quickly that it is unable to do any actual cleaning. The instructions are among the worst I've ever seen as well. I'm going to see if I can modify one of the filters and make it work until I come up with another idea. I previously had a unit from another manufacturer that lasted 2.5 years and generally worked well. Unfortunately it is no longer available.

I bought it as I have the type that drains the water out as well and got tired of that routine. When I got this, I charged it, put it in the tank and nothing happened. I contacted the seller and they gave me advice on how to try it again. Which I tried. Nothing. So I let the company know and they sent me a replacement which I had very quickly. I charged that one, tried it and it worked beautifully. This will help keep my substrate clean without taking out water every time. I still do my water changes, but don't need to do it every day with this device. I have a sand and gravel mixture for substrate with live plants and it did really well.

The ideal was good for cleaning tank. I used it one time on my tank. Worked ok until I tried to use it again. The pump is so weak it won't pull water through unit. This was after cleaning all the filters. Good ideal, poor product concerning the pump. Just not strong enough and got weaker after first use.

Worked at first. My gravel was getting somewhat clean, water exchanged when I needed it. Tried to do a water change and it stopped working. It’s charged, nothing stuck, connections good. It powers on but nothing happens.
