  • Fits properly

it works

  • Not "Plug N Play".
Style: Wrangler JL
It fit the vehicle, my 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL. But I didn't want it between the door and the spare tire mount. I mounted it just below the bolt head. Then the top flat part where the antenna mounts, was touching the rubber of the spare tire. I envisioned it rubbing a hole in the spare tire sidewall. And that's unsatisfactory. So I ground off some metal from the top and painted the exposed metal. I placed 3 fat washers between the spare tire and it's mount, moving the tire out, slightly less than 1/8th inch. That worked. No metal is touching the tire. Next, the hole for the antenna was too large for a FireStick II. I had to get creative with O rings so the center electrode of the coax/antenna hardware doesn't get grounded. If the hole was the right size, the fiber/plastic shoulder washer would have done the job. That shoulder washer fit a flat washer, so I needed something else to keep the center electrode from hitting the bracket. I added a plastic O ring that would sit inside the bracket hole, inhibiting the center electrode from touching the bracket and grounding it out. After it was tight, an ohm meter proved it was not short'ed out. The FireStik II was then hitting the hard plastic that holds the center brake light above the spare tire. I envision that rubbing a hole in the antenna and breaking the wire wrapped around the pole, so I put a short piece of 1/2" PVC to take the brunt of the rubbing/pounding. That one I'll watch for a while as the 1/2" pipe is a bit looser than I'd like to see. Still working on that one. Underneath that antenna mount hole, I ground off the powder coat to ensure a better ground. Was the manufacturer considering the antenna's possible interference with the rear window wiper? Since I mounted it just under the bolt head, not under the spare tire mount, the wiper wasn't an issue. Overall, I expected to bolt it on, mount the antenna and be done. But this bracket is not "plug n play". I had to modify it. Seems to me, the designer didn't think things through completely. My suggestions to the manufacturer: - Make the antenna hole further to the right (passenger side) by about 1" so the antenna doesn't rub on the Jeep's brake light frameworks. - Make the bracket so it attaches just under the spare tire mount's bolt, not between the spare tire holder and the door. - The top plate needs to be bent back enough or just made smaller so it doesn't rub on the sidewall of the spare tire. - The antenna hole can be a variable. 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", depending on the antenna of intended use. ... show more

Fit rather nicely on my JK. Only weird part is it came with 3 spacers for 2 bolt holes.

  • Heavy duty build with flawless finish.
Style: Wrangler JL
The construction of this antenna mount is straightforward. It’s essentially a stamped piece of metal, about 0.125" thick, with edges neatly deburred and a well applied powder coating. Thanks to the pickling process, rust is highly unlikely. That said, I would never install it by sandwiching the bracket between the Jeep’s tailgate and the spare tire bracket. That’s a problem waiting to happen. My plan is to temporarily remove the right side fasteners of the spare tire bracket, place this mount on top of the bracket, and then reuse the original fasteners to secure everything. My only other concern is potential clearance loss between the mount and the spare tire, which I’ll address by using heavy duty stainless steel washers as spacers to push the spare tire out just enough. Aside from installation preferences, this mount is exactly what I would expect. Heavy duty, well made, with excellent finishing and thorough pickling to prevent rust. It will do exactly what it’s designed to do. Five stars, and I’m glad I ordered it. ... show more
