Easy to use, saved me tons of money

First, ignore all the reviews about the locking mechanism being hard to use. I am not particularly large or strong, but I can read directions, so this was easy to use, including closing the locking mechanism. This is incredibly easy to use, and I have already vacuum sealed fruits, vegetables, meat, and more. I shop at Costco, and even with the occasional thrown-away food, it is still cheaper, but I always feel terrible about food waste. Now, I my chest freezer is full of vacuum sealed food, and I am not throwing food away weekly. There are two settings, one for moist, and one for dry. I have mainly used the 'moist' setting for food. When vacuum sealing fruits and vegetables, take a few minutes and Google the best way to prepare them for vacuum sealing. (I learned that blanching is a great way to preserve many vegetables!) I have used the dry setting for flour and rice - and nail polish stickers (a weird one, I know). (I use nail polish stickers and they dry out as soon as you open the packs, so you are forced to buy more, even though you only use 1/4 of the stickers per use. I now use my Food Saver to reseal the packs and use them over and over.) I used the bags that came with this Food Saver, and went through those quickly. I then starting using the roll to make bags - there are directions on how to make the bags in the packaging, but it is also pretty intuitive. When I first ordered a new roll of vacuum seal material, it seemed expensive ($26 for 3 rolls), but when compared to how much I save on food waste, it was worth it. The one thing I messed up the first time was how far to insert the bag to seal it. I inserted it waaaay too far and the Food Saver just continued to try and vacuum the air out for over a minute. I was worried that it would burn out the mechanism, so I opened the machine and it shut off right away without damaging the machine, which is good to know in case I mess up again in the future. I then re-inserted the bag so that the edge just came up to the drip tray (like it says in the directions, funny how following them works...), tried it again, and it worked perfectly. As I was learning how to use this, I did insert the bag too far a couple of times, and used this process to correct it and vacuum seal the bag with no issues. There are lots of models of Food Savers, and I don't pretend to know how they stack up against each other. However, one of the big reasons I chose this one was the slim profile. I was able to store this in a cupboard without completing rearranging everything. Some of the models are pretty bulky, but this one takes up very little space on the counter and is easy to find a place to store.

Not Vacuuming X 2

This is my replacement item for my old VAC 1020 from Food Saver that I have had for years, but the heat strip started to fail. I bought this (the first one) and it didn't vacuum. I returned it after talking to the manufacturer and ordered another one. It arrived yesterday and it, also, did not vacuum. It looks like a great unit from Food Saver, but I have had 2-defective units in a row. I still recommend it and you can take your chances on it working.

A big improvement on older models

I bought this to replace an older sealer from the same company. I had the previous model for probably 30 years and was no longer able to get replacement parts. What an upgrade! This one is much smaller, while still doing the same job. It stands vertically for storage, making it easier to store. The buttons make more sense and is easier to operate. You do have to press very firmly on both sides to engage the latch, which some people may find difficult. It will still work, but you will need to hold it rather than be hands free. It is definitely less finicky about how to place the end of the bag to work properly, which is a big plus! The only other thing I don’t like is that the previous model had a space for cord storage. This model has no provision for that, so either the cord just hangs around and gets tangled or you need to provide a tie to contain it. A vacuum sealer is indispensable for saving you money by allowing for bulk purchases that can be divided up, and preventing freezer burn, thus reducing waste. This is the best model I’ve seen for that purpose and I recommend it!

Great sealer. Easy to use

I’m really happy with this vacuum sealer. It’s easy to use, seals the bags tightly, and does a great job keeping food fresh. The controls are simple and straightforward, and the suction is strong enough to remove most of the air without any issues. I’ve used it for meats, leftovers, and other foods, and it has been a great way to reduce waste and keep things fresh longer. The unit is also compact enough that it doesn’t take up too much counter or storage space. Overall, it’s a great value for the price and does exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an easy-to-use vacuum sealer.

Doesn't vacuum out the air.

I had a cheap model for years and it worked great. This more expensive, fancy one hasn't worked from the very beginning. First, it doesn't lock down so you have to hold it down (very hard , I might add). Next, it doesn't vacuum out all the air, so it doesn't automatically seal. It took me over an hour to freeze a lot of meat that was on sale. My old machine would have had everything sealed properly in less than half that time. I bought this when my old one died, because it was also the food saver brand. I am going to toss this in the trash and try to find o e that actually works. P

Easy to use with a little background knowledge for more success.

I've had a FoodSaver years in the past and this is my second one. Never had a problem with the FoodSaver itself, so I bought another and it works as intended. Very easy. If you are new to vacuum sealing, do yourself a favor and ALWAYS seal the bag twice on both ends incase the seal ruptures. Otherwise freezer burn happens. Lesson learned. My new FoodSaver has a wet or dry selection when sealing which is new to me. My old one did not have that feature. The difference is in how long it melts the plastic to seal it. The wet selection burns longer to ensure the seal. Also, the drip rail is now removable for much easier cleaning. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Stop freezer burn!

This wasn't even the top-of-the-line, and we love it! With beef prices in the crazy zone, we went to Costco and found a couple of sales we liked. In the meantime, we ordered this; we figured if it didn't work well, so what? We're pretty good at squeezing all the air out of Ziplocs. How much better could it be? A LOT BETTER. It gets every breath of air out, so much that you could freeze food and use sous vide to cook or reheat. It came with enough roll and a few bags to get us started, and the refills are easy to find. As for capacity, we were able to fit an entire chuck roast (for pot roast) into the roll with no problem. When this one wears out, we already know we are going to upgrade - not that this one is janky, but now we know the product is totally worth it.

Had this for 4 years now and still holding on strong its honestly not to bulky and does the job. Noise level honestly well I mean I’ll obviously make some but its at a normal tone. I highly recommend to friends and family all the time helps me keep my freezer super organized.
