Was smaller than I anticipated and the vacuum is not very strong. On top of that, it quit working about 2 weeks after the return period. Don't waste your money on this item.

This is the first food vacuum sealer that I have owned or used, so I cannot compare to others. I have used it once so far in testing and overall I find it is compact and light and seems to be up to small tasks like re-vacuum sealing a couple of hot dogs, which only took about a minute (if that) and were vacuumed and sealed quite well. It comes with a handful of bags to get you started, which are on the small side at only 6.5" by 9.75" minus about 3/8" to 1/2" of sealed border on each side, and the open end on one of the shorter sides. I don't yet know how well it would do with larger tasks, but I can tell you that the heating element and gasket can handle about 8" to 8.5" wide bags, and one would probably be better off getting a roll that they can make bags of their desired length from. It has both vacuum and non-vacuum sealing modes, so you'd just use the non-vacuum mode to seal one end and vacuum mode for the other to make your own bags from a tubular roll. I may be getting older and my eyes not so great as they once were, but the tiny tri-fold instructions are a bit hard to read with a tiny font. I can't imagine they are saving more than a fraction of a fraction of penny making them so small. Despite being only 6 steps, I also found part of them to be a little unclear: they tell you to "put the bag flat into the machine bayonet", but there is no diagram to explain what they bayonet is or how specifically they should go in. I presumed "bayonet" means the two little black things that stick up inside the gasket ring, which have a bit of a horizontal slot in them. But then do both sides of the bag go in the slot or only one side? The product pictures on Amazon appear to have the bag laying on top of them, which is probably not right. I guessed that both sides went in the slot and it worked on the first try, at least. I am so far happy with the machine after my one [yet] use, however I must take a star away for the difficult to read and unclear instructions.

It seals the bag great but leaves alot of air in bag no better then a zip lock bag it is loud.
