  • Ok at reducing echo if you have a lot
First of all, these are not for soundproofing or sound absorption. I don’t know why that’s in the product description. That’s blatant false advertising. That being said, you have to be somewhat naive to think something so thin and cheap would actually soundproof. It’s just a thin piece of pressed fibers. What they are designed for is reducing echo, which these do an ok job at. They do work and make somewhat of a difference, but you would have to almost completely cover a wall to make a big difference, and even then they are too thin to absorb a lot of sound, especially bass frequencies. I have them covering about 25% of a big empty wall and they do help, but it’s really minimal. Some negatives. They are not 12” square. In fact, every one is slightly different dimensions and thickness. I had to hang them with about a centimeter gap between them all to make it work and it helped. If you try to hang them all touching, they won’t match up because they’re all slightly different sizes. Another negative is the value. These are really low quality. There are lots of manufacturing flaws. I got all black, which helps hide the flaws, but you can still see they are different sizes, some are beveled and some not, some edges are really rough, and some edges are not straight. There is also hardly any material to them. They are just packed fibers and weight almost nothing. So there’s got to be like a few cents worth of material and I feel like at almost $40, you’re paying like 10x what they should cost. You would need several hundred dollars worth of these to actually sound treat one wall of a room and at that cost, you should just buy real acoustic panels that will actually absorb sound. If these cost $5-10, I would say you get what you pay for and I’d be satisfied. ... show more

  • Great for controlling echoes
Color: Slivery Grey
I put these panels up in my treated studio space above the first reflection points to control a little echo. They are easy to work with because they’re more rigid than foam. They’re not thick enough to control bass frequencies but they work pretty well on higher frequencies. Only negative: the adhesive tape provided isn’t very good or easy to work with. I suggest using 3M two sided foam tape instead. ... show more

  • Easy to work with!
Color: Slivery Grey
These pieces trim really easy with a razor knife, I even simulated the beveled edge by cutting at an angle! also, you can use spray glue, (spray on Contact cement) in lieu of the D-back tape, (Which also works well!

  • Stops Sound Dead!
Color: Slivery Grey
I found these to be an easy to install and affordable method to meet my sound requirements in podcasting and other audio work. Placed on the wall from the top of the desk to three feet up, it has dampened all sound that was echoing from the immediate area. Affordable, effective, and non-destructive to the walls, I highly recommend these tiles. ... show more

  • Works for my special use
Color: Slivery Grey
I use the in a Physics class where the students insert pins that need to be vertical and stationary. It is what I wanted. I don’t use it for insulation or sound control so I can’t say anything about those factors.
