I've owned many brands of higher end (consumer grade) headphones over the years, including the typical Apple, Beats, B&W, B&O ranging from $300-$1,000. Paired with my Naim Uniti Atom HE, these are in another league! Obviously there are higher quality audiophile headphones, but these are (reasonably) attainable and should last a lifetime. I have ananda stealth, Arya stealth, Hifiman HE 1000 stealth, sennheiser HD800S and focal clear MG. For the dac amp combo I have chord mojo 2, Alex Cavalli gold, liquid platinum plus gustard x18( my fav combo) topping D50, modi plus magnius. I’ll stop here. So in this audiophile journey I was fairly content until I read about the famed Focal Utopia. How Amazing and perfect it is blah blah. Plenty of hype online and I am aware of diminishing returns in the audiophile world. I still decided to try..... It was a mistake. Suddenly it made my HD800S and HE1000 sound like tin cans. It’s hard to unhear this. So I am 5k poor in the wallet but my heart is full. I absolutely love it. Works for all genres. Do not again I say this do not pair this with chord mojo , modi magnius or D50 and be disappointed. Pair it with liquid platinum or an equal and you will be blown away. This is one product where the hype is real, the leap in sound quality demands the asking price. Improvement in sound quality is obvious from my other headphones. Buy it. Sell all others and you will be happy. Remember no going back. Update after a month- this is a stunning headphone. Nothing, I mean nothing comes close to this. Focal Utopia beats every other headphone I have by miles. The sound is divine. Kudos to us humans for reaching this level of sound reproduction. Buy it. ... show more

Just get the 2016 edition practically the same headphones with older design and you can find them much cheaper on the used market.
