Nice and soft. Very thick. The backing wasn't what I expected but it is being used at the foot of the bed so the bed keeps it in place. I think if it was not under furniture it would move around. This is very soft, which is great. And it is padded, also great....but the shag part isn't as thick as I thought it would be based on the pictures. And because the nap/shag is thin, it has a tendency to lay flat where you step or lay down and doesn't bounce back up. You can fluff it....but I bought the biggest size so that doesn't make sense for me. I do also like the merled color of the rug, adds texture. ... show more
