Description

Fluker Farms has been breeding feeder insects for over 50 years, and also breeding reptiles for over a decade. We have used our breeding experience to give us the insight to produce quality, cutting-edge products for the beginner and the most advanced reptile enthusiasts. Live Feeder Insects Acheta Domesticus are an excellent source of protein and are very easily “gut-loaded” with calcium and other important vitamins for your pets. A Cricket (Acheta domesticus) is an insect with distant relations to the grasshopper, and are found almost all over the world! They can range in size, but a Fluker cricket can get up to an inch in length. Pick the size that best fits your pet's needs! You should gut-load Acheta Domesticus with Fluker's High Calcium Cricket Diet 24 hours before introducing them to the reptile. You could also mix half of the High Calcium Cricket Diet with half of the Cricket Diet. The optimum temperature range for Acheta Domesticus should be 70°-75°F during the day and at night. This is necessary for their metabolism and immune system to function properly. A bulk of one thousand Acheta Domesticus will require at least a 10-gallon aquarium. Suitable substrates for your cricket homes include egg crates and orchid bark. You should also provide dark places for hiding. It is important to clean the cage out at least once a week, or between cricket shipments. Feeder insects should be no larger than the space between your pet’s eyes. Explore other Live Insects available from Fluker's. Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) are the larvae of mealworm beetles and are an abundant food source for many animals. Birds, spiders, reptiles, even other insects prey on mealworms to find a high protein and fat source in the wild, and it is much the same in captivity! Superworms are the larvae of a darkling beetle, Zophobas morio. Not to be confused with giant mealworms, which are mealworms sprayed with a juvenile hormone, superworms are a great source of calcium, fat and fiber. Hornworms are an excellent feeder treat for bearded dragons, leopard geckos, chameleons, and various other reptiles and pets. Their bright green color stimulates picky eaters, and they are extremely low maintenance. Soldier Worms, the live larvae of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), are a naturally nutritious, protein-packed, calcium-rich treat for your pet. Their balanced Calcium to Phosphorus ratio is ideal for reptiles (without the need for dusting), and can help prevent Metabolic Bone Disease. Fluker Farms has been breeding feeder insects for over 50 years, and also breeding reptiles for over a decade. We have used our breeding experience to give us the insight to produce quality, cutting-edge products for the beginner and the most advanced reptile enthusiasts. In 1953, Richard Fluker successfully founded Fluker's Cricket Farm, Inc. in charming southern Louisiana, where fishing has always been a passion. Fluker's Cricket Farm is a premier retailer of live insects and has developed the largest, healthiest, and most hearty house cricket available. We are the leading producer of the house cricket and have an extensive feeder insect lineup including mealworms, superworms, flightless fruit flies, hissing cockroaches, and a complete line of reptile food and products. • Sounds of Happy Crickets
Style: Medium, 1/2" Size: 1000 Count (Pack of 1)
This may sound weird, but I purchased these crickets to release all over my large backyard. Sure, the birds don’t mind having a snack, but I got them because I miss the sounds of crickets at night. They arrived very much alive. None were DOA. The packaging was perfect. I don’t know how 1000 crickets were crammed into that little box, but they were. So, within a few days, I heard just a couple of crickets. I figured that the wild birds ate the rest. Oh well. Yesterday, I had to move an umbrella and found several hundred of them beneath the stand. They scattered and now I hear them all day long. These guys seem very happy here. I’ll definitely buy more. ... show more

  • This company is an absolute must if you need high quality feeders!
Style: Small, 1/4" Size: 1000 Count (Pack of 1)
I absolutely adore this company! They are fantastic to work with, prompt with orders, and are fantastic in honoring replacements when unfortunate circumstances happen and they arrive dead! I am a huge fan of this company and they are always a great GoTo for your source of feeders or supplies! 100/10 (Not a Typo)! I highly recommend! ... show more

  • Sticky gross
Style: Large, 3/4" Size: 500 Count (Pack of 1)
Stinky gross and with dead crickets. Not all, but some. I kept trying to clean out dead crickets but everyday I have more and more dropping dead and stinking up. Bought some from an online bug breeder and will never buy these again.

  • So impressed.
Style: Medium, 1/2" Size: 1000 Count (Pack of 1)
So impressed! I never saw one dead cricket in the box and I ordered 1000. Not sure how many were actually in the box but they were all alive and healthy.

  • Great price for the quantity
Style: Small, 1/4" Size: 500 Count (Pack of 1)
Got them in way sooner than the expected date which is awesome. They are a good size for my baby beardy. Great price for the quantity. I can stop going to Petco every week and have them delivered at home.

  • Looks can be deceiving
Style: Large, 3/4" Size: 500 Count (Pack of 1)
This is my second purchase from this seller. The first arrived completely dead. This one had some dead guys, but most are alive. I actually got a graduated cylinder and counted out 50 crickets by hand and marked it on the cylinder. Then I doubled it for 100, and so on... After counting the cricket that received, I realized two things: 1) A lot more fit into a tiny space than I thought. 2) They ship way more crickets than you buy! Even with all the dead, I counted out over 400 crickets. ... show more

  • Great purchase!!
Style: Medium, 1/2" Size: 1000 Count (Pack of 1)
I ordered 1000 half inch crickets,, I probably record closer to 2000, lol and only 2-3 dead ones in the bottom of the box and they didn’t all run to the water source dehydrated, so I’m well pleased with this order and will order again in the future for sure, also I received them in the mail only 2 days after they were shipped out like 2 weeks earlier than they were supposed to!! They were lively and well packed. No escapees!! ... show more

  • Crickets were great, delivery was AWFULL!!
Style: Large, 3/4" Size: 100 Count (Pack of 1)
The crickets came in alive and healthy. However, my problem is with the delivery. Long story short, my fiance and I live in a camper on zoo property since he works there. In the delivery instructions I added the business hours, a phone # to call, and specific instructions on where to drop the crickets off. Sure the delivery came in 3 days early, but rather than call the number they decided that was too difficult and instead dropped them off at a nearby post office. Mind you, this post office closes at 5pm, which is when my fiance gets off work, so we can to go out of our way to pick them up during his break. Which caused his break time to exceed the 30min limit. Then when I go to leave a review on specifically the delivery, there's no "Leave Delivery Feedback" option like Amazon claims on their "Share Your Feedback" help page. Like I said, the crickets were perfect, maybe a tad small but otherwise works!! Review #2: I ordered the crickets again and got to say I was a little disappointed. The crickets came in cold which tells me whoever delivered them did not keep them warm which is disappointing. Thankfully I keep my room at 70-75° for my tarantulas so I was able to warm the crickets back up before they died. ... show more
