    • Strong multimeter from an industry leader for a very reasonable price.
Fluke is the standard, but in the past these meters were targeted at lab benches and pro installations. The 17B+ is an excellent mix of capability and price. It has the most common functions, some of the rare functions, and some of the lab capabilities all for a very reasonable price. Capacitance measurement is not that common, at least an accurate measurement, but his meter handles values across the range with good precision. Temperature measurement is also not that common and this has it as well. Hold and relative value measurements are usually reserved for lab equipment but this meter has them. This function is needed when you're looking for small variations on a large signal, such as measuring the ripple of a power supply filter. This meter does not have true RMS measurement, but that is forgivable given the other capabilities. This has been my go-to meter in almost all situations now. ... show more

One of the best, affordable, do all Digital multi-meters available. Great for the Electrician and HVAC & R service technicians. Comes in a protective case that allows not to worry about hanging from your tool pouch or tool bag. Used to be made her in the great U.S.A. Battery last a long time.

    • Excellent DMM
Fluke makes a great line of handheld DMMs. The 17B+ is perfect for an electronics test bench, supporting the range of voltage and current measurements of typical interest as well as resistance, capacitance, frequency and temperature measurements and continuity checks. The OLED display on my Agilent U1273A finally gave out, becoming too dim to read. I ordered a replacement display board, and purchased the Fluke 17B+ because I needed a meter in the meantime and was a little nervous about the off-brand replacement display board. The replacement display arrived today and is working well. I'll definitely be keeping the Fluke because I want a backup in case I have any more trouble with the U1273A, because it is often convenient to have a second DMM available, and because I really like the Fluke 17B+. I get identical resistance measurements with both meters. The U1273A measures 10.005V from a lab supply set to 10V, and the Fluke measures 10.01V. I'm not running a calibration lab, so this is perfect for the things I'm doing. The meter is easy to use, it does exactly what I expect it to do and there haven't been any problems or surpises. It feels good in the hand, solid and well made. (I don't think the world needs another picture of a Fluke 17B+ on a bench displaying a measurement. Trust me, it looks just like the picture in the listing and comes with test leads and thermocouple as shown.) If you're looking for a meter for your electronics workbench, this is one you should absolutely consider. It's a great combination of quality, performance and price. If you don't care about frequency measurements or tempeature measurements with a thermocouple, you can save $40 with the Fluke 15B+. ... show more

    • Reliable, accurate, worth the cost
Have used for 1-2 years with no issues other than blowing a fuse (operator error) when using the ammeter function to verify parasitic battery draw on a vehicle. Ordered replacement fuses and installed easily. All functions work well including thermocouple.

I needed to monitor a parasitic current draw over time on my car battery. I attached this multimeter in series with the negative battery post and negative car cable to monitor the battery overnight. With the min/max amp meter, I could then if during the night any current draw was spiking. A very good feature for a multimeter in this price range. ... show more
