Fluance was founded in 1999 in Canada with the goal of recreating audio performances the way the artist intended. We expanded the audio line-up to include Powered Speakers and HiFi turntables. We develop high performance drive units for our speakers, cutting edge isolation materials and technologies for our turntables, and hand crafted wood cabinets and plinths for a warm natural sound. We want audio enthusiasts to enjoy an immersive cinema experience and lively music performance right in their homes. Experience unparalleled vinyl playback with the Fluance Reference High Fidelity Turntable. Meticulously engineered for the discerning vinyl listener to reproduce audio recordings exactly as the musician intended. The Reference turntable delivers a warm, uncompressed listening experience, allowing you to get lost in the music. With no electronics in the signal path, from stylus tip to the gold-plated RCA outputs, for an exceptionally pure sound. High fidelity playback from the superfine polished elliptical diamond Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge featuring a more detailed, high precision, and authentic vinyl sound. Experience greater balanced tonal accuracy, resolution, and bass extension while accentuating every refined characteristic of your music. The high density and greater mass of the acrylic provide increased inertia to achieve a consistent speed, while damping unwanted vibrations by trapping and dissipating the energy. Acrylic has an analogous resonant frequency to vinyl records to aid in the cancellation of undesirable reverberations resulting in a 3-dimensional soundstage with improved bass definition, a richer midrange, and greater signal clarity. The servo-controlled belt drive motor with speed regulating optical sensor, continuously measures and adjusts variances in linear velocity and acceleration within a few hundredths of a percent for a wow and flutter of 0.07%. The decoupling of the drive from the plinth suppresses motor vibrations and noise from reaching the stylus. This maintains accurate speed and significantly reduces rumble so your records sound perfect. The mass-loaded multi-layered MDF wood chassis inhibits the transfer of unwanted resonance through the system. The 3 rubber, spike-type adjustable isolation feet minimize surface contact under the turntable resulting in immunity to environmental vibrations, for greater low frequency signal pickup and improved imaging. Fantastic turntable
Color: Walnut
My Fisher turntable finally gave it up after 30+ years of service. I wanted to get a new one, so I looked around, and the Fluance kept coming up. So I decided to give it a try. Well, I pulled the trigger and purchased it. I’ve been using the Fluance RT85N for a while now, and it has proven to be an outstanding turntable in both build quality and sonic performance. Fluance clearly put a lot of thought into the engineering of this model. The acrylic platter adds excellent rotational stability, and the isolated motor design keeps unwanted noise out of the signal path. The MP-110 cartridge tracks beautifully, delivering crisp detail, tight bass, and a warm midrange that makes vinyl playback genuinely enjoyable. The RT85N feels premium from the moment you unbox it. The plinth is solid and well-finished, the tonearm moves with precision, and setup is straightforward. Once dialed in, the table performs consistently with no speed drift or mechanical quirks. It’s the kind of turntable that lets you relax and enjoy your collection without fuss. The only thing I would mention is timing. Shortly after purchasing the RT85N, I discovered that Fluance had released the new R87. Had I known the R87 was available, I likely would have purchased it instead, simply because it appears to offer some refinements and upgrades that align with my long-term audio goals, but it is $300 more. Nonetheless, the RT85N is a high-quality, high-value turntable, and I have no regrets about its performance. Overall, the RT85N is an excellent choice for anyone wanting a reliable, great-sounding turntable with premium components at a fair price. Even with the newer model now available, the RT85N remains a strong performer and a product I can confidently recommend. ... show more

Solid quality & beautiful to the eyes and ears
Color: Walnut
After coming across a couple of reviews by audiophiles, I bought this turntable to replace my five-month-old Denon 300F. Don't get me wrong, Denon is a respectable brand, but Fluance is a step up. It is definitely a different sound, which I enjoy. The RT85N is solidly built, and I love the Glossy Walnut—it's beautiful! The unit is easy to set up, the adjustable feet are really nice for getting it to sit level, and being able to easily switch out the plug-in cartridge if desired is a big plus since I might want to try the Ortofon 2M Blue sometime. The only thing I wish I'd done differently was ordered the Fluance silicon platter mat (PFHTRP) when I ordered the turntable. Prior to putting the mat on, static pops and crackles were quite noticeable, even after using an anti-static gun and brush. My advice is buy the mat when you buy the turntable. You'll be glad you did. ... show more

I absolutely love my Fluance RT85N
Color: Piano Black
I absolutely love my Fluance RT85N. The black finish with the acrylic platter looks sleek and modern, and it feels solid and well-built right out of the box. But more importantly, it sounds incredible. The included Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge delivers a warm, detailed sound with excellent clarity and separation. Vocals are rich and natural, and the bass is tight without being overpowering. Speed is stable, setup was straightforward, and it runs quietly. For the price, this turntable performs well above expectations. If you’re serious about vinyl and want premium sound without going into ultra high-end pricing, the RT85N is a fantastic choice. ... show more

A Simple wow would suffice, but there is so much to like/love about this turntable
Color: Bamboo
I bought this to replace an Altec Lansing turntable which was fully auto with BT, i had replaced the original stylus for an elliptical on that unit and it sounded very nice but i was looking for more. Enter the Fluance rt85n, I wasn’t looking to be hammered with a sterile soundscape and the word warm drew me to this unit. I’ve burned it in for 20 or so hours and am very very pleased with this unit.I have a nice collection of records and it is handling all of them with ease. I am hearing much more detail in the music, instead of harmonies being blended together it is easy to hear the individual performers in their own space rather than a blend of voices in one spot. While warm is an apt description for the sound, that word does not do it justice, it has solid defined bass balanced well against a beautiful midrange and high end. I am reliving my first exposure to high end audio and am loving the old school vinyl experience, my setup does have Bluetooth to stream music from my phone, but the sound of well cared for vinyl is a much more engaging experience, I have to get off my ass and flip the LP. I have been adding a lot of pre-owned music to my collection and am surprised by how well this unit handles all of the $1.00 albums that have found their way into my collection. I have found that giving even a brand new album will deal with dirty grooves. A tiny spec of dust in the groove will cause a loud pop in the performance but a good deep clean have removed all those annoying pops, I’ve read of others having a similar issue and replacing the stylus with the next model up to deal with it, but cleaning is working for me. I had bought a copy of Yes - Close to the Edge which had several pops on both sides and after a good deep clean they all went bye bye. I highly recommend this unit it brings a lot to the party and was super easy to install and set up, as you can see in the pics my EQ setting are nearly flat and I am getting bottom end that can be felt without the boomies. My friends are commenting about how good my setup sounds and these are folks who have never used at turntable before. ... show more

Makes Old Records Sound Great
Color: Walnut
First, a caveat: I'm not a true audiophile. I have a pair of relatively low-end Klipsch speakers and a 90s JVC receiver. I had a Fluance RT81 turntable that I liked quite a bit but I've been buying a lot of vinyl lately and decided to upgrade my turntable. I didn't want to spend too much so, I looked around the $500ish range. After doing a fair bit of research (and because I had a good experience with my first Fluance unit), I decided on the RT85N. To my ears, the sound is terrific. What's really remarkable about it, though, is how good my old records sound. I've been buying vinyl since the mid-70s. I've always been moderately careful about how I treat my records, but for a long time, I had a pretty crappy turntable, so they have been through a lot. On the RT81, they sounded about how I'd expect: a fair bit of background static noise compared with the new vinyl I've been buying the last few years. But on the RT85N, they sound terrific. Not perfect, of course, but still really good. The newer records sound great too. As others have said, the turntable itself is both solidly built and attractive. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to spend a little more than entry-level money. ... show more

Very high value for the price
Color: Walnut
I'm writing as one who has owned and used a mid-range Musica Hall turntable and a high end VPI turntable. I bought this as a present for a relative, who is trying to move up the scale in his vinyl system without getting too crazy yet. His wife told me that he likes the "traditional" vinyl sound, and not the "modern" vinyl sound. This turntable fills the bill. It sounds really, really good, and it punches above its weight (i.e. its price). It is a very, very good value. Solid plinth with good mass, leveling feet with isolation coating. The included phono cables appear to be very high quality, although I replaced them with cables that had less capacitance and more shielding. The included Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge is no slouch. It is a very good cartridge for someone at this level, with a warm sound. A nice feature of this cartridge is that the Nagaoka cartridge bodies and styli are compatible from the MP-110 up to the MP-500. It takes all of 10 seconds to switch styli, it's as easy as swapping a USB cable. I bought my relative an MP-200 stylus (reviewed separately on Amazon), and my relative very much enjoys switching between styli depending on his mood and the genre of music he is playing. (The overhang on the MP-200 is not quite right when you do this, because the stylus cantilever is not quite the same length as the MP-110, but the lower end Kagaoka don't seem too sensitive to this). We unboxed it and set it up at my house. It was a very easy process. I checked the overhang and alignment of the factory-installed MP-110 cartridge with two different protractors, and it was right on. My relative loves the musical sound of it. The included dust cover, and the "auto off" feature are good inclusions. I dunno if the acrylic platter actually improves the sound, but it looks great and does away with the need for a mat. I rated it down one star for the tone arm. The tone arm lacks a VTA adjustment, which I think a turntable at this price point ought to have, And this plinth does not really support replacing the tone arm with a better one. Except for the knock on the tone arm, this RT-85N is just about perfect for someone who isn't quite ready yet to begin venturing into vinyl madness. ... show more

Clean, warm sound from the Nagaoka Cartridge
Color: Piano Black
I don't know what the standard platter would sound like, but this acrylic looks great and the Nagaoka cartridge is excellent. I almost went with the other version with the Ortofon Blue but chose this because I read on multiple forums: 1. The blue ortofon can sound overly crisp, detailed and might "fatigue" the ears. 2. The ortofon blue stylus (needle) can cost twice as much $204 at replacement time as the Nagaoka $70 and I plan to replace the stylus every 300 hours or two years. I don't plan on changing the entire cartridge, but will upgrade my speakers and even get a pre-amp maybe... before I then upgrade to a fancier cartridge. 3. The Nagaota gets so much praise for its warmer sound and decent bass. 4. BUT this all depends on your "vinyl-chain": the amp or receiver you use and the speaker quality so its all subject to these and subjective too. I get no wow and flutter (I have good ears and would hear it) and I don't get any sibilance from the needle. My old vinyl that has been in the back room for 25 years now sounds amazing in my new "vinyl room" (the old sun-room). It was fun watching youtube vids on what to expect to set up the tone arm and antiskate, easy. The 3 rubber feet work fine, I have no issues with the unit just turning off when record side is finished. At least it does not spin and get kicked out to respin again. It's fine for the needle to gently stay there if I walk away and return. I don't have any 45's and certainly no 78's so having 33 and 45 speeds are fine. I don't need a system or cartridge and needle that will play exotic mono and 78's when I have 50 years worth of 33 1/3 to play. The lift arm (I believe it's hydraulic) works perfectly: it lifts all the way and slowly comes down as expected. The tone arm is fine, but where the arm lock or holder clips over the arm, it is tight and the black has rubbed off very slightly. I might use a sharpie to dab it someday if it gets noticeable. I would not say (as others have) that this means it's a "lower quality tonearm", I feel it's fine and the tone arm gears and general feel is fine. If I really wanted a carbon-straight arm, I would have spent another $150 for those other brands but I was really pushing this at $500, so I'm really happy. ... show more

You pay for what you get. I looked at other turntables at higher price range. Then weighed what I was getting for the price. This is so high end for the price, you can’t go wrong buying it. So what do you get. One of the best stylists on the market. I love the acrylic turntable, and technology has come so far you don’t have to dial in the RPM’s on the strobe light. Tone arm is a tone arm. As long as it doesn’t stick in on the same spot while the platter is turning and follows the groove tracks, your good. Weight adjustment kind is sucks, but that’s because it’s hard to adjust to perfect balance before setting tone arm & skip weight. That can be overcome by buying a scale to adjust the weight. Only took about 2 minutes afyer I bought one. Spent about 1 hr trying to do it by factory instructions. Make sure you put a ground cable on it to Amp. Mine had tremendous feedback until I did, but that solved that issue. Easy to level, they send you a fisheye level. Don’t worry about getting it perfect though. If you reasonably close your probably good ... show more
