  • Incredible Quality
My current rig as of 1/2011: -Fluance SXHTB+ -JBL ES250PBK 400-Watt High-Powered 12-Inch Subwoofer -Harman Kardon AVR 2600 Receiver -PlayStation 3 using 1.4a HDMI cables from Amazon on Linear PCM settings(not MonsterRipOffs) I went from Infinity TSS-750 series satellite speakers to these Fluance speakers, and I have to say, they're simply amazing. I can't really compare to any other bookshelf speakers, only satellite speakers. However, I have heard speakers like these in the store and frankly, I couldn't tell you the difference between these and Polk audio. As for shipping, Fluance is a smaller company and you can only buy the speakers from them, so I was expecting a long wait time. Shipping from Canada (I assume, since they're based there), my speakers were there by the end of the week after ordering on a Monday. I considered that to be speedy delivery. Before ordering though, I did have to wait for several months because they were out of stock, but I wasn't ready to buy then anyway. What's included are two bookshelf speakers, a center, and two rear/sides (whichever you prefer). On Fluance's website, you can order two more speakers for complete 7.1 audio for $39.99 a speaker. The picture doesn't do them justice. I was going to actually paint the speakers black, as I hate "wood" looking furniture, but these are a bit darker than the picture advertises them to be. They actually blend pretty well with darker furniture. This comes from my wife as well, who didn't want to buy these just because she hates the wood look. But she instantly liked the darker color they arrived in. Setting these suckers up was a little new to me. Again, I never had bookshelf speakers before, so I didn't know I needed to have two wires per speaker, but I guess I should have figured that out. After I got them setup, my receiver did all the work as far as configuring them, with me tweaking them a bit. Now, I bought the subwoofer mentioned above at the exact same time. That sucker is huge, and packs a nice punch. But after the first day, I turned it off so I could play games at night, and really, I haven't used the subwoofer hardly since. My Blu-rays and games manage to boom at the appropriate moments, without the subwoofer. Often times, I felt like I was using my old subwoofer for bass, just from the speakers. They're not going to rattle windows, and tear down the roof, but they're great if you don't want to be too loud because of neighbors/sleeping wife. The price, the quality, and the look is perfect. If someone broke in my house and robbed me blind, I wouldn't think twice about buying these again. At $299 (plus about $80 shipping), these really feel like a steal. Everyone that has heard them has been greatly impressed, and I feel if you're planning on getting a Polk audio set, consider Fluance as a superior product than them since they sound the exact same and cost way less. ... show more

  • Power and Crisp Room Filling Sound at a Great Price Point
Color: White
Sound Qualtiy: 8 of 10 Power to fill the Room: 8 of 10 Durability: 10 of 10 Beak-in period: 9 of 10 Bang for buck: 10 of 10 Appearance: 10 of 10 (to each their own here) I bought a 5.q set of these as "place holders" at my house for Elacs or KEFs down the line. That was 4 years ago and since then I bought a second 5.1 set of Flaunce Elites for a second room and am toying with buying a third set for a third room. They do a great job filling a fairy large room with crisp clear sound. Over four years they have been put to the test with some loud events and they have stood the test of time. I bought the white elites and the white is a stark white pop in the room (I never imagined I'd like white speakers. If you have a fairly bright white trim in your house these will go well). The first set I got was handled poorly during the shipping process but the company was very responsive and replaced the damaged speakers quickly. They can take the rough and tumble abuse of children, which I am amazed at considering the price point. I have had my child slam into them, once im particular with a set of drums that sliced up one of the speaker, and although I am looking to replace it because of the look of the gash the sound pumping from the damaged speaker hasn't been effected. Please note they do need a break in period. For me I beleive it was about a week for the sound to come to life. If you buy the set don't be shy with adjusting the center speaker's prest volume by raising preset volume level a little more then the front left/right speakers. You will also want to find the sweet spot for your sub's crossover adjustment. But once you've tuned them in just right to your taste they'll be hard to part ways with. In the past I have had various models of speakers including: Mirage, Technics, Kenwood, Sony, Klipsch, Polk, and a few others at a considerably higher price point. Something about these blow the others away. Everyone is going to experience speakers a little diferently but I would highly recommend these; especially if the purchase of these are part of a larger project and your looking for great quality at low price point. Look no further and spend your have funds elsewhere. If you're in any way in the above described boat definitely consider these speakers! ... show more

  • Great sounds, good looks for a great price
I ordered these speakers sight unseen from Amazon, based on user reviews. I had these speakers delivered to my disabled brother in NH, so I flew out from Colorado (with a sub woofer in tow) and setup his new surround sound. I was replacing components for him as well so the setup for me took about 3 hours. Boxing: The folks at Fluance are serious about protecting their speakers in shipment, all of them were double boxed and they also floated in foam inserts within the boxes. A note of caution, the two floor standing speakers come in one BIG box that's a little unweilding and heavy, you need two people to get it to the room your going to set it up in. Setup: This is your normal setup for a surround system. Their speaker wire connectors are the industry standard red and black with an ample receiving hole for a serious gauge monster cable. Because of my brothers room configuration we had to place the floor speakers in the back of his room, more about that later. Look/Finish: We really liked the oak look of the speakers, it lends a modern look to my brothers entertainment room. There was no damage to the corners of the speakers from shipping, they were in great condition. The two floor standing speakers come with 4ea screw-in type levelers/isolaters that screw into the bottom of the speaker. These were particularly handy as I could get each speaker level on an old New England wooden floor. Sound: So we spent a good part of the afternoon setting up, went out to dinner, then came back and watched War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise version). I was truly amazed at the sound quality of these speakers. At one point during the movie, my sister who was also in attendance, turned around to me and said she'd never heard surround speaks sound so good. The crispness of the cataclysmic events that occur during this movie was incredible, absolutely no distortion even at high volume. This brings me back to the unusual configuration we had to go with for the surround system. We'd put the large speakers in the back of the room in the corners and the center and what were supposed to be the surround speakers I'd ended placing within an in-wall entertainment/bookshelf setup where the TV was. Even the surround speakers acting as the primary L/R speakers sounded great. For the money I'd say you can't go wrong with this setup. I'm very pleased with the system that I purchased for my brother, and he's been calling me daily to let me know what songs he's listened to and how good it sounds! ... show more

Color: Black Ash
i've been searching long and hard for some nice speakers. for years i've been putting together a nice home theater system. being 19 and a college student, your limited on what you can get because most likely, your broke!yes i'd love to have klipsch, polk audio, kef, and definitive technology but they price their speakers individually for as much as $1000 so i was looking for great sound and money left for lunch! fluance surprised me! i was happy to see they finally got these in black ash! it was a steal because they are bi-amp/bi-wiring capable and they sound amazing! they actaully have a very clean sound! the bass is rated down to 49hz but with a bit of tunning and placement you can knock that down. i have squeezed it to around 40hz. these speakers are fantastically built. they look really nice, and they sound great. only con i have for these is that they can be bright at times on the high end but thats only for music. turn down the treble and your fine. i didnt use the center because i have a better polk audio one already. the surrounds are great sounding and match perfectly. im using a pioneer vsx-821 powering these but im upgrading to the onkyo tx-nr818 soon! i recommend these! ... show more

  • Very surprised by the quality of the build and sound output.
Color: Black Ash
I didnt know much about Fluance when I started looking for a set of replacement home theater speakers. Initially it just looked like anyone who made anything remotely good was really into their own product more than the value the product actually gave. I took a chance on Fluance after researching a lot of different offerings. Coming from a background in employment in setting up very high end audio, I know about quality, but am not very picky myself when it comes to my own costs involved. What I mean is that I value good audio, but not at some diminishing returns area where stellar is great, but largely wont justify the costs unless you have money to burn. In comes the Fluance. I am very impressed for the money at the quality of the build and sound. Very full sound, easy to setup and packaging that made sure it arrived safely, but not overly engineered to cause a lot of waste. I loved the surround package so much, I ended up adding 2 more bipolar surround rears, which also arrived and did not disappoint. Overall appearance is well above this price range. Output companioned with the Yamaha RX-V685 is phenomenal. After a few hours of break-in the speakers were very full sounding and clear of any distortion. Added a pair of Polk 10 Inch subs for better stage feel up front and working with a 150 inch projection 4K setup. I would certainly buy again and would recommend to others. For that great sound, but not a lot of unjustified costs that seem to be pervasive in home audio and prosumer choices. ... show more

  • Excellent Speakers and packing as well as having them delivered perfectly
We used the standard shipping and they arrived within 6 days after purchase. The packing of the speaker's excellent. Everything we needed we added to our purchase and added the banana plugs which made installation a breeze. I am a computer network engineer and have worked with surround sound for about 14 years now so I knew what to expect and how to configure. The sound was amazing for the price we had paid for them. The only thing that worried me about the speakers was the weight but they sound extremely better than I thought. They are very light compared to the speakers that we have had in the past (Bose) and we are using the Sony 810 HD receiver until we purchase our next amplifier to go with our 4K LG 65 smart TV. Once we broke them in they are really good sounding speakers and have been able to handle our PS3 Blu-ray movies as well as the music we have added. We are using a subwoofer but the speakers do have some nice bass to them. We are very happy with the setup and can hardly wait to add the new amp later and they are very stylish in our place. For someone who is on a budget and wanted to look and feel a great sounding speaker system please try these out due to the fact that they have a lifetime warranty and that was our selling point as well as the reviews we have recently been reading about to make sure that they would sound great and last for years. You will not be disappointed with your purchase and everyone will think that you paid a lot more for them and you will find that they are extremely well worth the price. Thank you Fluance for sending and packing them in a professional manner. Kudos ... show more

  • I wanted to have my speakers for a good period of time before leaving a review
Color: Natural Walnut
I wanted to have my speakers for a good period of time before leaving a review. I've owned this system for over 3 months and listen to them 5-6 days a week for 1-2 hours a day. I listen mostly to classic rock, some symphonic music and light jazz. Occasionally I will watch a movie with my surround sound system. Over all I am very impressed. The speakers I replaced are Boston Accustic micro 110x speakers with a B A PV350 sub. To be honest I became bored with the lack of dynamic sound with that system. Enter the Fluance sys. The improvement in the imaging and sound stage is dramatic. It did take me some weeks of adjusting my Denon AVR-687 receiver as well speakers position to get the best sound. It has been worth the hassle. Out of the box I found the speakers somewhat bright and with extended listening tiring on my ears. Also there was a lack of mid-range and bottom end. So why keep them? The answer is to add a sub woofer and adjust the crossover on my receiver to 40hz, set the crossover on the sub to bypass, bi-amp the fronts, adjust the bass output of the receiver to 6 out of ten, pull the fronts 6"s off the wall and I'm in love. There is no doubt these speakers need break-in. Be patient and play with your set up and you will find that for a very modest investment you will reap a great reward. Delivery was fast and double boxing insures no damage during shipment. Buy them, you won't be sorry. ... show more

  • Speakers so good I had to buy more only 2 days after receiving these!
Color: Black Ash
I would say that I’m not a novice when it comes to good sounding speakers, but I’m not an audiophile either. I’ve always upgraded my car stereos and have had a couple ‘complete surround systems in-a-box’; with this 5-speaker set from the Fluance Elite line being my first standalone speakers purchase. I have it paired with a 7.2 channel receiver I also recently bought. All that said, I can best summarize my thoughts on the sound these speakers provide versus those aforementioned prior setups by saying just one word … A-W-E-S-O-M-E 😁! While these are Fluant’s entry-level variety, they’re a giant leap over any ‘all-in-one surround system’ you could buy off the shelf anywhere. The sound is full with crisp highs, clear dialogue in movies/vocals in music, a strong and enveloping mid-range that does a good job fulfilling the largest part of the audible spectrum, and can even hit some of the lower-end of that spectrum. As other reviewers have said - I would agree that a subwoofer is almost a necessity to complete the system; but, it will depend on your listening preferences and how much low-end you like. I complemented them with the Jamo C912 12” subwoofer and it’s been a perfect match so far. I’ve only had these set-up and playing for a couple days so they’re not even broken in yet; but, I couldn’t wait to complete the setup with how great it already sounds… so today I went ahead and ordered a pair of bipolar surrounds from the Reference series (XL8BP). If you’re delaying whether to go with this set of speakers or another within a similar price range - stop. Just buy these and be done contemplating and don’t look back! ... show more
