If you want something that really works, this one does. IDK so much about the 1-mile claim, but i can tell you that i am clearing a low-lying lot for a new house, and i noticed a lower number of bugs swarming me when this was plugged in. NOTE: It does attract moths at night, which i know is a no-go for some people so i wanted you to know. I did return the timer because 1) i run it pretty much night and day unless i'm sleeping and 2) I know the picture shows a short cord, but i guess i just didn't realize that it's like 2 inches. ... show more

It works fine. We have 3 frogs that sit under the light and enjoy a cooked meal each night as the zapped bugs fall to the ground. Very entertaining actually.

Smells like electrical smoke and every time a bug goes near it, whether I hear a zap or not, it flies away. Bugs are attracted to this light but they don't go to it making them bite us more and less zappy zaps

This has been the only thing that keeps bugs away from back door and getting in the house. The light only lasted one season but the replacement bulbs are cheap.

Works well. No complaints. I set the timer and wake up to a pile of dead bugs in the morning. It is super bright so take that into consideration if you're thinking of placing it outside your bedroom window. 10/10 would buy again.
