The winder is amazing. Seems very sturdy. All the cakes are the same size (u need to keep tensipn on the yarn to achieve it)! I could wind a larger amount of yarn into a cake. I'm very happy with my purchase!

When we first got it the gears were misaligned so it wasn't winding properly. After my husband monkied with it a little bit he got it fixed. 9 hours later, my yarn stock is all nice and caked. Looks pretty good not going to lie. You have to remember that it only does 4oz, so it does smaller cakes with ease, you can get it to do larger cakes but it starts to cup around the bottom so you have to be careful. I crochet and have done so for the last twenty years. I have always used the regular skeins straight from the store. However I got this and now my whole collection is organized. The cakes are all uniform and finding the center pull is phenomenally easier than finding it in the ball of yarn. It doesn’t take up much space. It holds on to the table pretty well. It’s cheaper than going to Joanns or hobby lobby to buy it on Amazon. And I’ve dropped this thing 20 times and it’s still PERFECT. My ONLY complaint is that I won’t wind an entire ball of yarn in one go. It will only do half a ball of yarn. It’s fast to spin up a cake of yarn. I LOVE THIS THING. Another didn't have a glue strip and when I tried to hang it with double sided tape it just straight fell apart. Other than that they were perfect.

I am disappointed. The gearing in the one I received is off. It creates tangled center pull saucers not cakes. -One day after the comments above I decided to see if I could mess with the gearing. I never got to the gears, but somehow it now makes cakes not lopsided saucers so I am upgrading the stars from 1 to 3. The gearing seems really sensitive. ... show more

Doesn't work. Tried everything and the balls aren't tight are not stacked. Seller keeps saying ita the tension but I held tight and still falls apart off the rod. Will be buying another style from another seller

So far, it works! I noticed the yarn being pulled in needs to be slightly taut in order for the yarn cake to hold its shape better. Also, as the cake grows, it wraps around the bottom edge of the bobbin, but didn't misshapen the cake that much when taking it off the bobbin. Worked for my weight 6 bernat mistical yarn! i love working with cakes and making the skein into a cake has made my project easier to work on. i was able to get the whole skein caked in one but i had issues with the yarn falling off if i wasn’t winding quick enough and tight enough and the cake getting stuck which was not a bother to me but something to keep in mind if you don’t want the hassle! ... show more
