for the most part the chair itself seems to be high quality, and was easy to put together, HOWEVER, the footrest will not stay in place! as soon as you put a little bit of weight on it it will slide to the base. we have several of these drafting style chairs here in our building and none of them present this problem, after looking more carefully I believe it's a design flaw, as this chair uses a hand-turned knob which is part of the footrest and applies pressure via a bolt to the shaft, apparently that force is supposed to be sufficient keep the footrest in place, but sadly my 125lbs coworker keeps causing it to slide out of place. none of the other drafting chairs we have here use this pressure/bolt/knob system, they all have the footrest solidly built-in and/or flush mounted to the shaft, for lack of a better description. tried going through support to ask if I might be doing something wrong, support link takes you to an external website asking you to register. overall very frustrated with this purchase and will be returning the chair soon if the vendor can't help me figure out why it isn't working properly. ... show more

I bought the drafting chair to go with my standing desk (Varidesk). The raise and lower piston action is smooth although the chair sinks about an inch when I load it by sitting. The footrest will not stay in place. I'm tall enough that having it at the bottom of its range is fine. But others have complained and I have found it will not stay put for long above the bottom of its range for long, regardless how tight you turn the adjustment knob. The arms swing out of the way nicely although the left arm is slightly misaligned compared to the right one. It's a bit higher. The mesh fabric feels well made and allows plenty of ventilation which is a nice feature of this type of material. Assembly is easy and without any problems. The chair was packed well and arrived undamaged. At $200 plus tax its worth it principally because of how comfortable it is and the functionality a tall adjustable chair provides for those of us using it with a standing desk. ... show more

I couldn’t be happier with this chair! I’ve had two major back surgeries and in line for a third one. I am an artist and have had great difficulty sitting at my art table for longer than an hour with my previous chair. This chair has changed all that! It is super comfortable in the seat cushion area and the adjustable arm rest are equally comfortable. Because of my back issues I added two lumbar pillows, as you can see in the two included photos I’ve attached. I placed one high and one low. This puts me as close to a 90 degree setting position and is the only way I can sit without lower back pain. I have this same set up in my office chair and car seat. Needless to say, adding the lumbar pillows is in no way a direct reflection of this chairs already comfortable nature. It would certainly be comfortable without any additions. I am a special case, with pre-existing conditions. Those of you with back problems will already understand the importance of finding a comfortable seat that won’t aggravate your back further. What I needed most out of my search for a new chair was, 1). Must be well built, 2). Must be comfortable for an extended period of time and lastly, 3). Must have adequate height adjustability for my tall art table. This chair has delivered all those requirements in spades and I couldn’t be happier! If you have back issues, this is the chair for you! Just received it, was able to build quickly and easily, first impression - Holy smokes this is comfortable. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and my body has a lot of pain. This feels amazing. It is perfect for my sit/stand desk. The only thing I wish it had was a head rest - which I never thought I needed. However, I think maybe it's out of habit but I leaned back and went whoa - there's no headrest, haha. But again, no biggie. I love the lower back support and the seat. It's perfect. I'm a small frame / short person (5' 1") and this chair is a perfect fit. I really love it. It also looks nice and was well made. I did end up making one modification, I added different wheels. Similar to roller blades and it eliminated my need to have a floor mat which I really loved. Again, I haven't had this chair long so I can not attest to longevity, but initial impression are an A. ... show more

It is like any office chair if you have put enough together - took about an hour to put together. The trickiest part was attaching the arms to the seat to the back of the chair - 1st screw. I also had to lay the back of the chair across a plastic tote the same height as the seat to put the screws in the seat and bottom of arms. I had issues with one screw - I think it is the screw hole in the seat that is the problem, but at least it is not striped. It would take too much effort to take it apart and put back in the box and ship back. Only if something happens before the time is near to send it back. The disappointment is the arms are not padded - no cushion although they the plastic does not seem to be hard which helps. The chair also has a bad odor - maybe the materials so I will steam it to see if that helps. ... show more

    • horrible moldy smell- sending it back

As soon as I opened the packaging I noticed a really strong moldy smell. There didn't appear to be any water damage. I assembled it and through maybe it just needed to air out. I assembled it and put in at my desk that evening. My wife was out and got home a few hours later. She noticed the smell as soon as she walked upstairs. I told her it was the chair. The seat is where the smell was coming from. I opened a window to let some fresh air in. The next day I sat down at the chair and did a few hours of work and got a bit of a headache from the smell. Airing out overnight didn't seem to make a difference. If you put your nose up to the seat and smelled it was really strong. I contacted support and they recommended I send it back. I'm waiting for UPS to pickup the package now. Maybe it was just a fluke. The chair seemed fine. The armrests could have used some more padding and everything else seemed fine. No issues with the footrest slipping or the shock/spring working ... show more
