My previous sets of LED candles were wax. They looked nice, but were easily nicked from movement, use, and storage. Of course, keeping them in heat in summer was a potential problem. Their flames were small, flat pieces of plastic on wires that moved, lit from beneath. These are a significant improvement on a number of levels. The candles are entirely plastic. While the warm glow isn't quite the same as wax, they look similar from 5 feet away, and the durability is a total win. The flames are crafted of 3D, immovable plastic, with the light flickering from within for the candle effect. Batteries are easily installed, and the lights are lovely and actually throw plenty of illumination - I'm using them in a small room and 4 of them lights it quite well. I love these so much! I have many throughout my house. I’ve always had the white and just recently got the black. I love that it has the remote and I can set the timer . All of mine come on every evening around 5 PM and stay on for four hours until 9 PM. It’s already been almost a month and my batteries have not gone out yet, so if you use the remote and set the timer they will last a long time ! These are beautiful lighted candles with 2 remote controls. They can be set on a timer and the flame light is adjustable. The only reason no 5 stars is the red dye gets all over your hands. Who knows what kind of chemicals are in it. Hmmm! It did wash off. Just DON'T touch them after you set them up. I wished they had more variety of colors. ... show more

Remote/timer and candles do not function properly. I set the 8 hr timer. Candles shut off last night however 15 out 24 of then turned back on today during the day instead of 6pm when I programmed them. I turned them all off again. Within an hour they turned back on. I went out again the reprogram to no avail. I'm so bummed because they are beautiful. But unrealistic if the keep turning themselves on during the day the batteries will be dead before it gets dark.
