I have a 10 gallon AIO and got this guy to clean the algee build up on the sides of the aquarium and it works perfectly. It gets the really tiny harder spots with the blade and everything else with the scrubber. This is like the perfect size for a 10 gallon tank and super easy to use. I don't leave it in the tank because salt water is just bad for stuff so be smart and just rinse off with water and take out after use. Replacement blades are kinda expensive but whatever, tank maintenance costs money, keeping a reef tank is a hobby that has its expenses, there really not like that expensive. This little guy works extremly well super happy with it. My tank is very clean and looks amazing and the fish are happy, everyone is impressed with how the tank looks after using this. ... show more

    • Best cleaner I've ever used....by far.
I was having a frustrating experience with a thin film of green algae. The magnetic cleaner I had was just fine for the easier algae, but it was useless against the more difficult algae. I bought this after I attempted for one hour to scrub off the algae. During that effort, I only got off around half of the algae before I got frustrated and gave up. After arrival, I tested it out. In 20 minutes my tank looked like I had just set it up. Not only did it scrape off the green algae, it also scraped off the red algae although that took a few more tries. Basically, in 20 minutes I scraped off twice as much as I did in one hour of having my hand inside the tank scrubbing with a pad. It is extremely well made and designed. ... show more

I'm using this on my Fluval Edge 46L (a 12 gallon glass aquarium) and find it to be the perfect size and strength for the task at hand. The innovative scraper and scrubber feature is a stroke of genius and works as advertised. My only complaint is that it's not neutral buoyant the way they claimed it was (possibly is in salt water?), in fresh water it sinks slowly when released which could be a problem if you have a deep tank. ... show more

This is a great product for cleaning a smaller tank. I have a 20 gal and it's a breeze to clean now. Magnet is strong. Having it "flip" is a little difficult, but it works. I wished I'd bought this sooner. It really is a good product. And the blade part works awesome!

I've had aquariums for 20+ years, and these are one of my favorite product developments over that time. My only complaint is that the Nano version of the Flipper has a little bit of difficulty getting off all the tough, coralline algae, since the magnet is smaller and it doesn't press quite as firmly to the glass as the standard size does. The standard one takes everything off my 14 gallon Nano tank with no trouble, so I would recommend that size unless you have a truly itsy bitsy aquarium (under 5 gallons). Compared to the magnet cleaners without blades, these are waaaay less prone to damaging your aquarium. Most people cause scratches by getting sand or gravel caught under the cleaning surface of the other style of algae scraper and rubbing it around without realizing, but other than the cleaning blade and two small plastic "buttons" on this, most of this device doesn't even touch the interior glass, so it's harder to get gritty pieces lodged against the glass while you're cleaning. Just be gentle when scraping near corners to avoid damaging the glass or silicone. (It's harder to scratch the glass with these, but it's possible if you go around a curved edge or a corner too aggressively. It is metal, after all.) I know a lot of people who just keep this stored in their tanks for convenience, but the blades will last longer if you keep them clean and dry. This is especially important if you have saltwater tanks, since even stainless steel eventually corrodes when exposed to saltwater for long periods. If you do leave it in your tank, I'd suggested positioning it high enough that the blade rests above the surface of the water. You will have to change the blades from time to time, but the replacements are reasonably priced, and they're easy to switch out. ... show more

This magnet is AMAZING! Worth EVERY penny! I have a 34 gal Red Sea salt water tank. I need to use a magnet daily, and I have literally tried a dozen! This one actually cleans perfectly, AND the switcheroo with the blade thing is so awesome! It's a dull blade but it easily removes the harder algae in a few short strokes! My only request would be, if it would float when separated, then if it falls behind a rock you don't have to go "fishing" for it! LOL ... show more

Purchase this and nothing else. This is perfect for keeping your GLASS aquarium pristine. With some elbow grease it can get rid of the toughest algae stuck on your tank. I have two of these now and they are way worth the money vs other cheaper products. Don't get anything else unless you like to stick your hand into the tank and scrape algae or like those ones with the handles but even the ones with the handles don't last as long as one of these. ... show more
